FaLLEN Vol. 1 Cover Design 2
Added 2025-06-02 01:12:52 +0000 UTCThis is the second cover design I did for Kickstarter backers to vote on. This cover features Arma, Lamia, and the first aeon, Mater Gaia.
The other cover didn't take me as long, but this one was a lot more work obviously. I had trouble with Gaia mostly, and I ended up drawing more and more of her as I adjusted the positions of the characters.
The cover mock-up required me making some changes to the art, like moving characters around and resizing them.
Process Images
Here's the rough sketch I did. Arma's art was originally part of a sketchboard I did for the last Kickstarter, and Lamia was based on some very old art I did years ago. Gaia was an all-new drawing.
Arma's lneart. Man, I went back and forth on her smile for so long. I ended up giving her more of a smirk but maybe I secretly like this smile a little more.
Lamia's lineart! I did actually draw all of her because you never know, I may use it somewhere else someday. It also gives me more freedom with positioning.
The lineart for this. I ended up expanding on the image a lot more... I really liked the lineart, but I don't think she looks as good in color. I think I flubbed her face, sadly.
Originally I positioned them like this, with Gaia's head really big, because I was thinking of the poster while doing this. Duh, that's where the title was going... so it was a problem when I realized that.
I decided to keep going and just rearrange them later. Silhouettes!
Flat colors!
I changed Arma's smile! Shadows.
Added some highlights and gradations.
I ended up drawing in a lot more of Gaia but I must not have taken a screen grab before adding in special effects, patterns, etc.
Here it kind of is if it were a book with the title (still missing some info of course). Now I can finally send out surveys to backers!
