Chapter 5 Reboot, Page 11
Added 2025-04-30 16:01:19 +0000 UTCAs I just said in the last page (I know that was several days for you all but that's because this was a scheduled post!) I've got three pages left in the chapter and that will be the end of Book 1 for the reboot! I will be largely focusing on content for the book after I finish Page 14, but of course I will be posting that here. I will try to continue to post from the next chapter, but I may have one page every two weeks instead of every week until the book is completely finished. Though really, I don't expect to be working on the book printing beyond May.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the page! Because I do this once or twice a chapter, this is a page I decided to have available to both $1 and $2 supporters. The rest of the chapter will be $2 tiers and up only, though.
Process Images
The original version! I ended up rewriting some of the dialogue so it would fit or flow better in the new format. I did keep the floating conversation balloons in the middle panel, which is something you see more of in Japanese comics, but I hope I did it in a way that wasn't hard to figure out who was speaking.
Lineart and spot blacking! Arma got redrawn a bit. Switching her injured hand from her right to her left in the reboot did cause some silly problems for me.
Silhouettes!
Flat colors! Added more items in the cabinet.
Sometimes I forget how much darker Arma's skin is until you have a scene like this with her tawny hand in Lamia's snow-white hand.
Shadows! I left the shadows step intact this time, haha.
Gradations and highlights!
Patterns, textures, line effects, etc.
Added sfx and dialogue! Originally I was going to use caption boxes for the middle dialogue but I hated how it looked. I'm still not sure how I feel about those for off-camera characters speaking. Western comic rules are weird to me sometimes, haha.
