It's late Friday night in the apartment, and Seamus brought someone home who he met at the bar. Eddie hears the noises of everything going down - whatever, it's happened a hundred times before. But as he walks back from the kitchen carrying his mug of tea, he's shocked to find the door open, and Seamus glancing over at him even as he goes full bore. The two make eye contact for a brief instant, before a shocked Eddie continues into his room, to try to sort out everything he's suddenly feeling.
I think this scene might be the most uncomfortable and tense of anything I've painted so far! I think Seamus's actions here are so telling. On the one hand, he's doing this in defiance of Eddie's growing relationship with Kal: it's a move to say, "Hey, don't you dare forget about me and how hot I am. Look at me!" On the other hand, it unmasks his desperation not to let Eddie slip out of his hands into a relationship with another man, even if he has no idea how to accept and vocalize the feelings he's developed for his roommate. Seamus can't stand the feeling of losing control, of losing the option of having Eddie even if he can't bring himself to take that option. Eddie, for his turn, will likely respond to this with shock, hurt, arousal, and even anger - anger that Seamus would do something like this, just to taunt and fuck with him.
Art wise this scene is gonna be a doozie - I bet you can see now why I wanted to make sure I had enough time to work this one out. Plus, painting a female character!? ME!? I promise, dear patrons, that this will not become a regular occurrence - I do this only in service of the growing narrative between these characters π
