i think ur take on why wille cant talk to simon but can talk to felice is spot on. i think he is so concerned about how simon would feel or react to his family being horrible people that his anxiety/insecurity pushes him to jump to conclusions and basically project onto simon. with felice, shes his close friend but he is not as concerned about her opinions as he is with simon. wille has absouletely changed as simon says in that last scene, and its definitely for a reason. as wille tries to force himself to like the monarchy, its completely changing who he is. because the REAL wille does not like this life or these ideals.
