What's also weird though is how it seems like from all the memories she's recounting that she had a nice relationship with her Stepdad, yet clear wasn't there when he died or after for the funeral. So she was so busy with Cal that she just opted to take her self out of her family's lives 100% and never at all made an attempt to talk about it after how close they were? Idk, the whole thing just seemed like a really, really poor excuse that could've been made better with just a bit more effort.

The explanation isn´t the best, but I took it as Grace didn´t want to bother/concern her brother with her issues when he already had to deal with their father being sick. She absolutely should have explained instead of just not contacting him for 10 years, but oh well. We know that Grace can be a bit weird about how she does things, like how she acted like she needed to do everything alone even after Ben returned etc. As for the money thing, I´m just assuming that Zeke´s parents are relatively wealthy. They used to do vacations in the mountains, and somewhere Zeke had to have the ressources to fund his drug addiction too.
