The cliffhangers are always insane! I can't believe Vex is actually dead though!

Yeah it’s unconventional storytelling, there is no reason for her to die plot wise but because it’s based off a dnd game it just happens. No one has plot armour in dnd. I will say though there are ways to bring back the dead in dnd and most of the time it’s pretty simple if you’re quick enough and have a cleric. However, I will say Matt likes to make it a bit more complicated then the actual rules of resurrection goes. He makes them do a ritual and combine their rolls with his to see whether the person will come back or not and sometimes it had consequences and if there is no cleric around then you’re basically fucked really. This isn’t spoilers I’m just providing information on how death works in dnd. Even having watched the campaign I don’t know how or what will happen next narratively.

oOo that's an interesting change, not sure how I feel about hat either. You could say that they also kind of mess with each other though, so it's not really out of character for them. But yes, ugh, poor Percy. I seriously can't believe it's real!

I can't believe she is dead!! It's so important to remember that these are just random stories being mad up, it's stuff that actually happened based off of their game play which make sit so unpredictable and even more chaotic. I loved Vex!!!

This is the fun of adapting a DnD campaign! Every character could potentially just die and the person playing them will just have to create a new character who will encounter the party and join them, or resurrect them, if possible.
So, Vex is really dead. Atleast for now. I actually never reached that part, I stopped at the Sunken Tomb so I guess I would have reached Vex´s death soon.
Zahra and Cash feel a bit more antagonistic than I remember from the campaign. I think they were more on friendly terms. But since here they just met it makes sense.
Vex´s death is tragic, but I appreciate the flashbacks! I really like the relationship between the twins. This reminded me of when Vax was posessed by Sylas in season 1 and how distraught Vex was when she almost killed him before he snapped out of it.
Overall this episode just makes me excited for episode 6! They clearly still know how to leave us on great cliffhanger. So I´m excited to see what they will do with the 3rd episode each week.

When the episode titles dropped a while ago I knew this will be how this episode will end. I think I would prefer for it to be a sudden shock as it was in the campaign, but I do appreciate added backstory. Oh the drama and oh the guilt... I think in campaign it was less of Percy's fault. He opened the sarcophagus and seeing it Vex run over to him curious to check it out. And then he triggered that trap. Here he is almost egging her on to do something Vax will disapprove of. I am not sure I am a fan of this change. Still that boy just added another layer of trauma to his extensive resume.

I do want to also say that vex is very much dead, just because I want people to differentiate between beeing unconscious and dead in a dnd campaign. She failed her save throw in the original game and took the brunt of the necrotic damage and she already had minimal hit points which meant it was insta death for her. Keyleth at the end of season 1 was unconscious and probably failed 2 death saving throws, there’s 3 total which just means she was probably on deaths door but not dead.

The fact that I knew it was coming but I was still a bawling mess. They made it 10x more angstier with the flashbacks goddamnit. In the game is was hell as well. Vax’s VA did tell her to not stray from him after the dragon attacks a lot because he was scared of losing her and then the minute he had her out of sight for not even 30 seconds this happened. They were actually fighting a classic dnd monster before this happened, I guess they couldn’t have that in because of copyright but it came out of nowhere since they fought and killed it and then everything was fine they were just going through loot and then Percy touched it without checking and boom. Sometimes the stuff that happened in the campaign were set up so narratively well without meaning to which is so wild because it all depends on how well you roll.
