I’m on vacation so it’ll be weekend after next but oh girl 🤣 Haaated s5 pretty much from the start. Tho I remember first getting furious in Phillipe and Caye’s first therapy session (ep 2 I think?). More rants from me coming haha

I brushed off them going backpacking to yet again more bad writing and them just needing a way to have Guzman not get caught, but yes, so dumb! However for me Season 4 was nothing compared to season 5!! Very curious to see what your opinion is on those episodes lol

What happened to Ari was partly Mencia's fault (not 100%, it was still Armando who almost killed Ari) because she really should've told their dad what Armando was doing to her earlier, ok. But the car accident was just a tragic case of "sometimes bad sh*t happens". Her parents, the ADULTS in the family, did not watch her and only realized she was gone when it was dark outside. The fact that there was a car crash that killed her mom and almost killed her brother is awful. But Mencia is definitely not to blame for that. She was a kid who ran away from home, where neither her parents nor her siblings paid much attention to her (as twins, Ari and Patrick were probably always closer to each other). And then... bad sh*t happened. The fact she still carries that around with her is not justified. The way Benjamin reacts when she finally tells him about Armando just confirms he's still a bad parent. Dude, you can be angry later, not in front of your daughters, one of whom just told you she's been abused and the other has just come home from the hospital after being severely beaten by a man.
Other than that I was mostly just glad the season was over, haha. Didn't know s5 would be worse. Glad Phillipe admitted his wrongs to another one of his victims, glad Caye stood up to him (even though I didn't like the outfit she had designed for Ari).
There are two kind of English subtitles and this one was the less good one! When they say goodbye, Guzman actually tells Samuel "You would've made a good brother-in-law," not "you were a worthy opponent." And I think that is so sweet, considering how much he hated Samuel being with Marina in the beginning, and a bittersweet callback to the early days.
And lastly, in what I guess is showing my age a little lol- I was SO MAD that Guzman and Ander left to go backpacking when there was only like 5 months of school left! This was the SECOND TIME they were in senior year and they still didn't finish it! I understand Azucena a little bit- her son almost died, now she wants to let him live life on his own terms. But Guzman throwing away his high school education with no good reason (as far as almost everyone else knows) to go freaking backpacking? No way would his parents allow that and no way would I allow my child to do that haha. Want to take off a year after high school to go traveling and find yourself before you start a job/college/whatever? Sure, go ahead. But not with one semester of school still to go. Jeez. Old people rant over 😉

"But if he tries to do the right thing now, and if they write it well I think he could eventually move past this and become a better person." Narrator's voice: They did not write it well 😂

I totally agree with you about Patrick! You really need to watch his short story before Season 5. His mother was the only person he felt truly loved him and he blames himself for her death. He just wants to be loved again and he puts up a wall so that he doesn't get hurt, that's why he doesn't have serious relationships. He tries to control relationships so that if things go wrong, he can just say it was his decision.

I didn't mind the twist being Armando, I did however hate that it was Mencia's dumb fault. It semi infuriates me lol I feel like it was obvious that she just kept making such dumb choices, so for those dumb choices to pour into being the main twist was a bit annoying. As far as your opinion on all the characters I 100% agree! I think I am most excited for Patrick's story line after seeing the trailer, which kind of surprises me because I found him to be a bit annoying, but we also never really got to know him, so that should be interesting.

I´m very mixed on this season.
First of all, I´m a bit annoyed how most of the relationship drama etc was so separated from everything. Only really the Armando stuff really mattered.
And also a lot of characters only really interacted with their love interest. Like for example, how often did Phillipe interact with someone except Cayetana and maybe the 3 siblings?
You are correct Ander and Guzman are gone, which makes it a bit awkward to have the Armando situation being unresolved, since the culprit isn´t around.
And I HATE the mystery for this season! Yes Armando technically attacked Ari, but in the end she still just fell in the lake because she was drunk and tripped. I get the "twist" in the end that Armando was killed but honestly I think it would have been much better if they centered the flashforwards around Armando being killed and that being investigated. They could have not found the culprit and immediately continue that into season 5 instead of "wasting" season 4 on Ari falling in the lake. I just didn´t like that mystery and it felt really anticlimactic.
I´m quickly going over most of the characters:
Ander: annoying, glad he is gone now. The whole hookup thing was weird.
Mencia: she sucks
Patrick: I like him. I think he genuinely wants something serious. He is just not good at trying to establish that. He tried with Ander, got screwed, tried with Omar and accidentally pushed him back to Ander, and then he was frustrated and hooked up with the next guy. I think there is a lot of potential for his character.
Ari/Samu: I don´t know... The drama between Samu and Guzman sucked, and she kinda ruined Guzman´s character. But she isn´t the worst. Now that Guzman is gone and there isn´t a dumb rivalry anymore she could become better. And I think she and Samu could work, atleast for now.
Guzman: As I said, Ari ruined him, and I´m kinda happy he is gone. Atleast he and Samu made up, and he killed Armando.
Rebe: I´m all for her being happy and discovering new things about her self, but her relationship with Mencia is SO BAD! And made her worse.
Cayetana: This is the best season for her. I loved her! I felt bad for her. But I love how she sticks up for herself and knows her worth, and tries to make it on her own. The thing with Philippe is complicated.
Philippe: Conflicted. As of right now he is a predator, obviously.
But I think he isn´t beyond redemption, and could own up to it, and become better. And I think he really cares for Caye. He fucked up. But if he tries to do the right thing now, and if they write it well I think he could eventually move past this and become a better person.

I really enjoyed this season, it's not the best but it was entertaining, the truth is I prefer Ari to Mencia. I think Mencia did things wrong and Ari was just trying to take care of her
