Monster derived from the term “rookie monster” which was coined because of 2NE1 followed by Lee Hi, WINNER, iKon, AkMu, Blackpink, etc. The reason being that not only are they amazing rookies from the get go but that they’ve accomplished major feats their first year after debut. Obviously other groups outside of YG earned the same term like MissA. BaeMon are true monsters.

I think they are called Babymonster (also called Baemon), because they are quite strong vocally for their age, it suits them. I would recommend you listen to all of their evaluations for members - Chiquita, Rora, Asa, Ruka and Pharita. It shows their vocal abilities quite well! You can search their final evaluations by their names on Youtube.
