SCORIGAMI Live conversation with Jon, Alex, and Seth

Thank you all for submitting your questions ahead of the SCORIGAMI screening a couple weeks ago. If you weren't there, then know you were greatly missed. It's still a bit surreal that we pulled the thing off, but we never would've attempted it without your support. We know New York is not a convenient location for everyone - I mean, it's not really a convenient location for people living in NYC - but hopefully someday we're able to do more of these and make it out to new, different spots. How many of y'all are in Des Moines?

Anyway, after the screening, we had time for a 30-minute convo, which was informed by the things you wanted to know. We were in a scramble drill, so I apologize for the camera getting focused and framed up right at the top, but that's just in the first 20 seconds or so and then we're cruising.

Oh and here's a couple pics from the night...

Sorry to drop these in the same way your aunt would do a photo dump via email, but they make sense to be here. Love you talk soon bye bye.

Thank you guys so much for doing this, it was a blast to be there with a bunch of like-minded nerds

The more I think about it, the more impressed I am at Jon's method of representing trillions of events. Even 1 trillion is such an absurdly huge number that generally human brains can't distinguish the sheer magnitude of whatever it is, so representing 13 trillion in a way that I think most people watching can grasp and understand is incredibly difficult to pull off.

This predates the Walter Camp standardization of Gridiron Football rules and so the two teams might’ve awarded scoring to plays we wouldn’t today (e.g. penalties or tackles for loss and sacks). It was the Wild Wild West out there.

I looked it up and found the fraction game Jon was referencing. It was Transylvania vs Center College on April 9th 1880. Transylvania won 13.75 to 0.
