Greetings to the China Uncensored 50 Cent Army!

Forgive me, it’s been a while since the last monthly message. We really hit the year running with an unexpected trip to Taiwan to cover the elections. And luckily got back to the United States before the coronavirus started spreading around the world! I actually do know someone who got the coronavirus. Happily, they are recovering.

These are incredible times for the show. It feels like people are finally starting to pay attention to China. After all, a deadly pandemic that spread because China’s corrupt, authoritarian government tried to cover it up instead of dealing with it will go a long way in making people angry.

YouTube has gone into overdrive though hitting China Uncensored: people randomly unsubscribed with no notification, videos being demonetized, age-restricted, or even taken down—it’s pretty rough.

Of course the silver lining is we finally topped 1 million subscribers! Obviously, none of that would have been possible without your support. The live Q&A we had was some of the most fun I’ve had on the show. Also, cake.

And if getting a million subscribers wasn’t enough, that same week, Chinese State-Run Media China Daily finally wrote about us. Have a read. They call us, “leading Western media,” and “disgraceful anti-China garbage.”

I am sorry to say though that we were planning a trip to South Korea to cover upcoming elections there. Very interesting things are happening, and China’s influence is huge. However, with the coronavirus spreading particularly severly in Korea, we’ve had to cancel those plans.

The future is uncertain, but we will keep cranking out China Uncensored, America Uncovered, and the China Unscripted Podcast. So stay tuned!
