#137 - 5 Steps To Your ULTIMATE Practice Routine (Finally Make REAL Progress!)

Let's talk about PRACTICE ROUTINES real quick before we dive into your wishlist topics for this month! We checked out so many exercises this year - how can you create a routine that fits your needs and goals? Since I get so many daily messages about this topic, I thought it would be great to summarize everything that worked for me in this video :)

IMPORTANT: This video also features our amazing VIP Club Shred Collab! Thanks so much to all players that contributed, I'm so proud of each one of you! Make sure to join us in the secret Facebook group to be part of the next project.

As a Patreon exclusive bonus, I added my current practice routine below!

Hope this helps, have an awesome day :)

Hi Bernth - loved the shred collaboration. Any chance we could get the backing tack?

A very helpful video, I found the tip about practicing at a slow/med/high tempo valuable because I want to progress but have a hard time refining technique if I'm focused on pressing forward to a faster speed. My current routine does 3 separate exercises for 5 minutes each, for one topic (ex. 3 different picking exercises for a 15-minute focus on my right hand). Would I benefit more from trying to break each exercise down into 1 or 2-minute chunks at a low + med + high tempo, or switching to 1 exercise for 15 minutes, but spending 5 minutes each at low + med + high tempo? Sorry if this question seems to have an obvious solution to others, but it's not obvious to me because your channel has so many helpful exercises and I want to improve on as many as I can!

this video is amazing! I feel silly I never thought about my practice routine. I did and still do find kind of difficult to "pick a style" (per se). One day I want to be the world's best blues rock guitarist and the next I want to be the world's greatest power-metal shredder composing epic songs. As you can imagine, it becomes overwhelming, the lack of "focus". This video help me first pick a path and then walk it. Thank you. Awesome song at the end. Everyone did amazing!

The colab was really great - looking forward to the next round! ;) Thanks Bernth for the great tips and the lessons through 2020 - it's been an awesome year of discovery regardless of the world around us all. This lesson is great because I am always getting myself out of the routine as the mind wanders through all the other "stuff" that is guitar!
