#65: The Shred Skill You NEED In Your Life | String Skipping Lesson

Let's talk about technique again after yesterday's music theory lesson! This is the second topic the Gold and Platinum members voted for - string skipping. We did not talk about this technical approach yet and I'm happy that we finally invest some time into mastering it.

String skipping essentially allows you to break free of constantly pairing the same strings for your licks. By switching between different strings we break up that pattern and get some really nice results! As always I wanted to keep the exercise musical and this is a lick you could actually use for your own music.

Please take it slow, skipping between the strings like this is much harder than it might look and sound like - but it can be done :) Hope you have fun with this one!

Thanks for that Bernth, I just wondered what it was. Have a good weekend.

I often use the GruvGear fretwrap in recording situations, especially when the guitar is completely isolated - it's a string dampener that reduces unwanted noise coming from the strings. The downside is that you can't really play the open strings so I recommend only using it when recording - it's difficult to slide it on and off in a live situation so I rarely use it in that case :)
