#63: Best Pentatonic Tricks | How To Spice Up Your Licks!

Welcome back my friends - it's time for another lesson :) This one is quite special - we tackle the popular pentatonic scale again and apply everything we learned so far in just one lick! This is meant to demonstrate how all these concepts can affect your playing over the long run.

Most shred players immediately think 'boring!' when the word pentatonic is mentioned - challenge accepted. I hope that I could demonstrate how this sound is still very useful in a shred guitar context and how you can apply all those little tricks in a practical context :)

Next week will be a very, very special one - please make some room for practicing from Monday - Friday... :)

One of the best lessons you've ever done! Amazing.

lengthening finger exercises -- also, soak hands in hot water (if you can afford the waiting time in Europe) before practice sessions

damn those stretches :o

Raf Aarts

Stretching can be really hard, the 'classical' position makes it a bit easier - that's something I discovered recently since I'm constantly switching between both positions! Still can't find my absolute favorite one, I like both approaches :)

Bernd Brodträger

I missed the bit about changing the guitar position first time round on the second exercise, and I wondered how you managed the stretch, but just moving the guitar made it much easier, still a bit of a stretch but much more comfortable.

Steve Shaw

Happy you can use that one Steve :) I agree, the pentatonic scale is so often dismissed because of its simplicity - but there is so much you can do, even this video is just the tip of the iceberg, let's see how we can take it further in the future!

Bernd Brodträger

Its great how you can make the pentatonic sound so different just using different ways of phrasing it, thanks Bernth, another great lesson.

Steve Shaw

Hola Ulises! Uso el complemento Neural DSP Plini para los videos y poca distorsión para mis sonidos :) ¡Espero que esta traducción sea correcta y te ayude más!

Bernd Brodträger

La distorsión suena tan "clara"! qué pedal usas?

Very nice!
