#62: 3 Best Shred Tricks | How To Play Fast Neoclassical Licks!

It's time for some neoclassical shredding once again! In this lesson, I show you my 3 favorite tricks concerning that style. We work with pedal tone licks, harmonic minor scale runs, and arpeggios. I transcribed all the extra parts I talked about for you in the files below :)

You can also find different backing tracks for the very challenging lick I played in the video. My main intention was showing you those 3 different concepts in just one lick. You can also modify the lick (taking smaller concepts) and practice to the backing tracks, everything is in the key of A minor this time!

Hope you have fun practicing, have a great weekend!

Thanks for the feedback Steve, happy that you can benefit from the lessons :) It's crazy how one note can change the entire sound & color of phrases like that - discovering that small difference between natural minor/harmonic minor was a real game-changer for me back then!

Hey Scott, for the lessons I mostly use the Neural DSP Archetype: Plini Plugin in Cubase - it sounds really great in my opinion and I don't have to get the Kemper out of the live rack all the time :) It's very simple and the presets sound great already without much tweaking (clean, crunch and distortion) - I can absolutely recommend it, I think I paid around 120$ for it!

Great lesson. Maybe you have mentioned it before but I don't recall seeing it. I really like your tone. How do you get it?

Great Lesson again Bernth, the difference in just playing the G # in the scale sounds so good. the lessons are really improving my playing and I am starting to understand the theory better.
