2022June Small story Poll Results

Alright, everybody! As I said I would, I am ending the small story poll now so I can get to work on it right away.  All the outlines are done, and Hiryo got the next episode of SoH back to me.  It's a little... travel-boring chapter, but it sets up the action to come and will be up later today.

I might even have time today to go back into the tactics/strategy thread, which I was having a lot of fun with before ATP got on top of me.   Speaking of, I have seen the comments you made on ATP, made note of them and will take them aboard once morde24 gets the chapter back to me.  Already I can say that several scenes and one long-standing side-plot will change thanks to those reviews.

And I've also seen the comments on chapter 49 over on fanfic... why do I bother with that again? Ugh. People who expect to like every arc of a story annoy me, especially when they say I am only doing it this way to draw out the story.  Which is the last flipping thing I want.  But I also don't want to just go full RARGH Harry OP without any buildup.  So how exactly is Harry supposed to find, let alone fight the Shadow!? GRAAAAA.

I wanted to play with illusions, mind control and teleportation because to me the first two are among the most OP powers out there, but they have never been utilized to the best of their abilities.  and the TWWAIS are gods!! They are Leeches, yes, but they are still...

Gah... stop. I am calm. I am balanced. I have moved on.  Sticks and stones may break my bones but words... ahhh....

Okay.  We return to the actual topic of this post.

The winner by a decent margin was Fate Touched in Middle Earth.  It brought in a total of 2399 with 137 coming from fanfic.  This kind of surprised me, since we are entering the downtime/romance arc, and I did not think it would be as popular. Odd.

At 2099 in second place, with a very good showing, was Horse for the Force.  It was let down, as always, by its poor showing over on fanfic, bringing in only 68 votes over there.  That and only one of my editors voted for it.

This obviously means that Magic of the Force took third place. 1214 total, and 146 over on fanfic.  I am hoping that this trend continues because I would really like to finish Horse this year. Sorry HP fans, but Horse is only 4-6 chapters away from being done, so...

And on that topic, here is a poll-based question for you all. I would really like to finish up Stallion of Hope and ATP.  I need a break from ATP this month, but should I just... write up an episode of SoH whenever I can, removing it from the patron-only poll? I think its... three chapters away from where I can end it?  So... six episodes? Something like that.  But if I do that, my other fics will be smaller or maybe suffer a bit in quality, which I don't want. The fic will still have a few odds and ends, but that's fine at this point.

Similarly, I want to push Horse to its completion as well.  So should I keep it in the poll every month, or keep with the rotation idea?

Comments

Rotating the stories does seem the best way to prevent a burnout. If that is what it takes for you to finish them and be able to start new projects, by all means do so!!

From my perspective, I would say do what you want. If you want to double down on the stories that are almost complete, then go for it! Take your time and enjoy what you're writing, and if you hit a roadblock in one of the near complete stories, feel free to switch over to another one to get a new viewpoint. It's what I should have done when I started writing fanfics myself rather than get bowled down by multiple different stories all at once. Whatever you decide, as long as you enjoy what you choose, then we can't complain as it will always result in the amazing, high quality content we follow you for.
