Thanks for the explanation. I'm not a regular to Escapist as a whole, but reading that article doesn't show me any pro-GG or MRA leanings. He says basically the same thing I believe: that no matter the race or gender of a protagonist, as long as they are well-written and have strong motivations, you will identify with them. He also discusses a bit the damsel-in-distress trope. And to be frank, I don't think scenarios like Mario rescuing Princess Peach are misogynistic or patriarchal either. As long as it makes sense in the story and context, I have no problem with it, just the same as I have no problem when the roles are reversed. Hope I got my point across, I don't wanna pontificate too much and spoil someone's fun. :V

Yahtzee is on the Escapist, which has a pro-gamergate editorial slant. He also wears a fedora. On the subject of Call of Cthulhu prison breaks...Rag-nerd-rok ran an adventure called "The Big Break" which featured players as normal prisoners in a submarine that had been refurbished into a jail off the East Coast. I was also curious about this--Yahtzee's definitely a major nerd, and I don't really care about his opinions and haven't read much of his writing, but as far as fedora-toting nerds go, he seems at least to be trying re: everyone who isn't a straight white male loser. but it wouldn't surprise me if I missed something, I guess. but I'm trying out the Podquisition anyway, on the strength of "his cohost is a large bisexual guy" or whatever it was that got said in there

I think Caleb might've overreacted a bit to some of Yahtzee's side-comments. I'm pretty sure that while he occasionally picks at SJWs, he isn't an MRA.
