State of the Game June 2016 & New Poll and an art contest

Hey Folks,

this is going to be a long post, i'll make sure to post a tl:dr at the bottom of it, hehe.


The Game



First of all I want to share with you the progress we made with Roundscape Adorevia over the last months, especially the MV version.


You probably know that we're working on the VX ACE and the MV version at the same time. While we focus mainly on content for the VX ACE version we're doing the real improvements on the MV build. This is the first part of this post.


The combat was always a bit of boring in Roundscape. It felt like it was just here for the sake of it. For MV we completly rebuild the combat system. Every companion has now completly different skills than before to show you the impact of this change.  Every Boss has now 4 to 6 unique abilities and even the smaller enemies have skills. If you just do auto-attacks I promise you that you'll have a hard time and this is how combat should be. It should be fun and a challenge but of course the challenge part is only optional due the difficulty levels that come with MV.


We've also listened to your feedback from the months old MV build and removed the agility based combat system with the timers. Instead we're back at the regular round based combat system, you can even see the attack order in the top right.


On top of that we've added two new features. Combat Formations and the Team TP bar. First one lets you decide where to position your companions. As example you can place Meredith at the very end, she'll have a decreased hit chance at enemies but also a higher evasion chance and defense. Galhart in the first row however will have a higher chance to taunt enemies and a higher hitchance.  The Team TP Bar let you do massive attacks, they are very important for boss fights and it will be crucial to choose the right team attack to win fights at higher difficulty levels.


Here's an example screenshot. Please keep in mind that things will change, it is not done yet. Most worktime went into the balance of the skills and fights.



But not only the combat will change. You can expect a completly new questlog, trait screen with new traits and you can access the gallery from any point now.  But there are other important parts to Roundscape, let's talk about them.


The Story-telling


A big part of Roundscape is of course the story. Some you probably experienced moments in the main story and getting the "something's missing here". In 3D videogames you know things are getting serious when a cutscene starts.


To improve the story-telling crucial moments in the mainstory will now be accompanied by Pictures. They won't be as detailed and full-coloured like the erotic scene pictures but I think the style fits to the game. I'm sure they will be a great addition but let us know what you think.

We've also reworked some other features. As example party banther will no longer pause the game, it is more like in games like dragon age or mass effect where the party banter happens while you play. 


But also for the erotic scenes you can expect some nice reworks. A higher resolution is something everyone will be happy about I think. Also new sound effects and and more fluid picture movement/zooming will allow for a more dynamic feeling during an erotic scene.

I know its kinda early, but just curious as to when we can find out the results of the poll.

This certainly looks interesting. I hope the new combat leans away from the more hp spongey combat that's in now and that we get more skill slots to play around with. Though i have a question about a quest that I think is bugged in the current version. Its the "A desperate plea" quest and i cant seem to go into the brambles at the top of the map. There's a little gap where it looks like an entrance should be but I cant actually go any farther into it. I press the interact key too just in case but same deal, nothing happens. Is that quest bugged or am I doing something wrong?
