Enjoy.

Yeah it's surveillance on steroids absolutely but also it's a barely concealed industrial scale data farming thing. And perhaps I am giving too much credit to the powers that be here, but I honestly think a lot of ministers genuinely do not understand the world wide web and have no idea how this is going to aggressively come back and bite them in the arse.

I fucking hate to have to talk about this, but is no coincidence that the UK and the US are rolling out these surveilance methods at the same time Israel is going full-on final solution on Palestine - they want to curtail anyone from seeing what's going on there and have more acess to information of anyone that might end up opposing the genocide (a.k.a. anyone that still has a heart and soul) to put them in jail. These politicians could not give less of a fuck about kids - after all, one half of them were on those islands and freak-off doing God knows what to minors, the other half thinks you're a antisemite right-wing crackpot if you engage with these ideas. Fuck everyone involved in this bullshit. Also, I have zero curiosity about that freaky-ass vietnamese video. lol

Saw the vietnamese video. Gnarly shit, but so interesting. I've been thinking about it today, trying to understand why it interested me so much and why we are drawn to this type of stuff, beyond curiosity. I think it ultimately has to do with sex and death, which walk together as irrational aspects of existence, at the edges of understanding. A man masturbating until that edge, then orgasming at the other side. The pleasure principle and the death drive in one. It's freudian to the bone. I couldn't help but think about what was going on in his mind. Just imagine: one final act of pleasure, which upon completion you'll reach the end of everything. Hard to imagine being in such a place.

The video sounds horrific. I saw a beheading video in the dial up days and it was traumatic. It still gives me a sick feeling when I think of it. I think it's very easy for outsiders to view this new Vietnam video as a whole - as a piece of 'media' to be fascinated. We could very easily dip into our own voyeurism and our own sacrifice to something truly horrific. I am not sure where the line is for someone to be curious for an educational purpose or genuine curiosity. But it's also very much a choice to step back and view it that way. So many people out there are so vulnerable, we are preying on them with innocent curiosity as much as the people ready to make money off them, or simply carry out murder, whether consensual or not. Consent is a massive debate all of it's own and a deeply complex one. Appalling shit happens in the world, always did and always will. But in this age of the internet, it can feel like a tailspin of depravity and pain and destruction. It's not enough to just be curious, IMO. And all the more reason why I don't want to be part of the internet and it's many rotten spheres. Live is too precious. Even the people falling victim in these videos. Their lives are precious and valuable and deserve love. There is absolutely no benefit for people, least of average people who can't or won't use their minds, to have access to the level of information/data/media at their fingertips today. It's not even a benefit for most people who DO use their minds. ----------------------------------------------- The UK's internet security move - it's just another 'War on....' show to sooth the masses. Like previous/current wars on gangs, drugs, fucking communism even. It's all for show, to make people feel like there is some kind element of control and security in their lives and in society. When, like you say, it's all an illusion.
