Would you guys ever consider each posting a ranked list of your fave movies? I would love to know!

Floyd Stapleton

I watched this film for the first time on Saturday, purely based on this Deep Dive poll result. I wanted to watch the movie, see what I received and experienced, and then listen to this - bit of a test to see what else I could learn or how I could have looked at the movie differently. Not quite sure I have the confidence to share some of those thoughts.... but the impact has been huge. I've really enjoyed thinking about the movie.... reading more... and now listening to your dissection and ideas. A thoroughly enjoyable exercise. I found the glimmers of hope and defiance, in spite of the abject despair (I was going to say hate, but there is an absence of hate in the Libertines which makes the movie more disturbing), really quite beautiful. Those little flashes of hope were very powerful. I also found it interesting to afterwards be aware that there is also allegory for consumerism.... and the parallels between of human experience in fascism and consumerism leaves a disturbing and very relevant shadow after watching. This film mustn't be processed at face value, but many views will, and probably, be unable able to do so. I can see why Letterboxd ratings are SO mixed. But equally I am not surprised. Many users view film from such a narrow, solely contemporary lens, that I don't need to know what they think (I wish there was a function to hide reviews to be honest).
