Year of the Ox

I've been pretty disappointed with the lack of diversity in the designs meant to represent the Year of the Ox I've seen lately. Most of the design's I've spied are just girls with cow-patterned clothing, and especially bikinis for some reason.
I wanted to put a little something together that feels more like an actual Ox. Sure, Ox are male by definition, but that doesn't mean you can't use that visual imagery to produce a character design. I don't know who decided that we should only draw cows.
Anyway, I'm really happy with this paint. I think the lighting is really solid, a lot of the textures are pretty simplified but effective. Ox are work animals, so I thought it appropriate she be carrying big ol' logs around, and the colours are that of the classic red and gold variety.
There was actually paint before this one that I wanted to do for Chinese New Year, but it really didn't inspire the Chinese New Year spirit in me so I redid it entirely. I'm very glad I decided to do it over, because this is much better. The file for the unfinished one might go up at some point.
