While working on this painting, I was primarily focused on just being more loose and less concerned about realistic lighting. A big thing here was the idea to try and think about the skin and clothing in two separate lighting situations. I lit the skin mostly evenly and placing shadows only in the necessary spots, while giving the clothing a bit more of a thought out treatment that was more focused on making it a convincing and satisfying render.
I'm not sure if it came through entirely, but what I do know is that there are some good thigns happening here that I can take into future works. I really was mostly spitballing and just going with the flow, but I do see something here.
I hope what I learned here only grows!
