Greetings my dear Patrons!
I hope you're having a great day, I would like to share the colored version of a new story+illustration from our collie-shepherd couple, in this new set of stories we will be seeing on the shepherd perspective as he go through the special day before holiday.
There will be three pieces (including this one), it will have titles following : Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. I hope I can deliver it all before Christmas. This new set of story+illustrations are an important project for me, so I hope you enjoy the ride. =)
Entitled "Physics", please enjoy the story below :
“It’s almost the time of that year once again, today will be my the last teaching session for my class this year, it’s been a couple years since my collie gave that scholarship for me. My little brother was very fond of looking up to the stars, he had a dream to one day become a great scientist to study the space, it sadden me to revoke all those memories, knowing that he is up there with the stars. I dedicated my life to follow the dream of my little brother as a scientist, although I ended up studying the small, I believe one day I can make my little brother proud.”
“Very well class, do you have any idea what I’m holding in my left hand? We have discussed this last week, anyone?”
The shepherd look around and points at a peculiar borzoi in the back of the row.
“Yes, Ms. Zoey. Would you be kind to explain it to your friends, please.”
The borzoi stands up and explain the neutron reflector, any material that reflects neutrons, these reflectors are commonly used in nuclear power plant. It purpose is like, but not really, a volume control in an audio device, increasing or decreasing the amount of nuclear fission.
“... and it’s commonly made from Beryllium metal, Sir.” Said the borzoi.
“Thank you, Ms. Zoey. Well explained, and correct. This one made from Beryllium.” Said the shepherd.
“Up to this moment I still didn’t know where my collie got all of that money, artist and their art world is weird in its own way, I can never understand art world as a physicist. I guess a piece of his drawing can worth more that my salary in a month.”
“Now, on my right hand is a screwdriver, I would like to share a story of how not to handle a Beryllium neutron reflector.”
One of the student, a corgi, perks up and whisper to friend who’s sitting just beside her.
“Ooh, it’s the Cemon Dore incident.” Said the corgi.
The shepherd start sharing the story of how one of his colleague, a chemistry physicist shepherd who injured his finger paws because he was handling a neutron reflector recklessly.
“My colleague, Dr. Souis Shepherd, couldn’t use a portion of his fingers properly because was trying to pry open a neutron reflector with his bare hand and a screwdriver in an experiment.” Said the shepherd. “So, instead of using a robotic arms, he used a standard screwdriver and unfortunately it slipped and had his fingers crushed by this heavy Beryllium metal.”
The shepherd holding the reflector up and down, showing that it has some weight on it.
“You see, this is quite heavy and it’s just a miniature model of the real one, which’s twice of the size.” The shepherd gives a concern look. “Please be careful and use precaution all the time when handling heavy metal, we scientists should try to minimize damage to environment and of course to ourselves when we do science, okay? Safety is priority number one.” Said the shepherd.
The students nods, some even gulped back because the Cemon Dore incident was famous among the scientist community and since that incident happened, there were a lot of improvements in safety regulations.
“Now, before we finish up our class today. I would like to review about the topic we’re studying today.” Said the shepherd.
The shepherd put down the screwdriver and neutron reflector model on the table and start looking at the board.
“This particular element is the best of its kind, I believe we can have a cleaner planet by using this element in our nuclear power plants.” Said the shepherd. “...my partner is really fond of clean energy too.” He said with low sound.
Some of the students perks up and look at his professor for a brief moment.
“Anyway.” The shepherd continues. “I think that’s all for today, be sure to continue your paperwork during the holiday, but don’t forget to have some fun too. We’ll see you guys again in the new year, okay? Class dismissed.” The shepherd then close the book and turn over to the wall behind, looking at the calendar.
One by one the student walk out the class while saying nice words like “Thanks Professor”, “See you soon, Sir.”, and “Take care, Prof.”. The shepherd nods while keep staring at the calendar. The class is empty and silent now.
“... so it’s today.” The shepherd sighed. “I wonder what’s my collie doing at home, I should be going home now, tonight is a special night.”
“My dear collie, thanks for helping me pursuing my passion. I’m grateful to be able to make living for us as a teacher and I’m grateful to have you as my love, the greatest lump of particles, and my most favorite chemical element.”
The shepherd chuckles as he walks out the classroom, heading home.
...to be continued.
Thanks for reading! I hope you like this one. Looking back to the previous three stories and this new one, we all know that our collie's profession is an artist and our shepherd profession is a physicist (particle physicist to be exact). I've been wanting to do character development for our couple, but most important thing for me is I'd like to give them their own perfect world.
Thanks for viewing! I really appreciate it.
I'd like to say thank you too for your continuous support on my Patreon, your help on the platform is what motivates me to keep on creating art. ^^
Please stay tuned for the next story+illustration!
Cheers and take care!
