Unfinished Song Vault - Spoopy Vibes Maybe?

It's been a while since I shared one that's just a random melody that came to me, and since we were feeling the spoopy haunting vibes yesterday, this one felt right.

I know I've talked about this a bunch since starting this Patreon, but I like that I have a lot of examples; I so often get asked how I write my songs, but I don't ever have a clear answer. I think the best way to write a song is to just go with the flow of however it starts for you. Whatever inspiration you get, roll with it. Lean in.

I think that's where the best songs come from. The ones that you felt in some way and just leaned in authentically. Because I think that's the music that most speaks to people; that most resonates. It's often the music that says the things we all think!

This one doesn't say anything at all 😅 YET. But I think it still pretty effectively communicates...something 🤷‍♀️

This was one of those times when I picked up the guitar, liked the sound of these chords together, and then just arbitrarily hummed/sung a melody as it came to mind. And I'm so glad I recorded this one because I often don't think to. And then I end up losing my favourite melody of whatever I hummed! Because whatever chords you choose, there's so many directions you can take a melody over them, so I very often have an idea that comes out in the moment and never quite seem to find my way back to 🤦‍♀️

I hope to get back to writing soon. I've been feeling pretty overwhelmed and overstressed and muddled in my brain for a long time, and I find it's hard for creativity to poke through all that noise most of the time.

I think this one might be a cool piece to come back to for the approaching spookiness 👀

PS. I haven't forgotten about the band practice BTS from before the show if you all still want to see it! I didn't record the practices because the bassist recorded them, so I just need to poke him again about sending me some of that footage.
