Absolutely amazing soundtrack, everything is off the rails plot wise, doesn't take itself too seriously but isn't too light either. It's chock-full of hype moments and oozes style. Big double thumbs up to give it a go. The first episode also gives a really good indication the kind of show you're getting into. You're in for a real sensory treat. Mushoku Tensei is... ehh... good. Sometimes pretty good, but most of the time pretty ok. The visually impressive scenes are few and far between and it takes its time getting from point A to B. A little too much fanservice for me (and that's coming from someone recommending Kill La Kill!), but ignoring that it does seem to have some tonal whiplash in a show that seems to want to explore deeper, more contemplative subject matter. It has a ton of potential, but I feel like it doesn't live up to the hype unfortunately.

I decided to read the LNs awhile back, and itβs frustrating how one minute the author seems to have a mature understanding of deep subjects, and the next minute itβs the most blatant wish fulfillment. In my opinion every good aspect of this series is eventually undercut by this tendency. Rant over :)

2024-08-19 15:37:35 +0000 UTCThat's an interesting way of looking at it, but you're right. The sooner they watch Mushoku, the sooner it'll be over and done with. The series is popular, despite the creepy protagonist, so it's really not a matter of "IF" they watch Mushoku but a matter of "WHEN" it gets watched. If they'll definitely be watching the show someday, now is as good a time as any. And then, other options (ideally non-isekai) will have a fighting chance in future polls.
