If you remember from ATLA the Bei Fong family was one of the wealthiest in the world. My thought is that Suyin accepted the inheritance to fund the construction of Zaofu, while Lin rejected it due to her pride, resentment of her sister and mother, and self removal from the Bei Fong family.

I think this show has LOTS of well drawn characters, male and female. I mean come on, Asami is in this universe, she’s up there with what’s her face from Roger Rabbit. Plus I agree, Korra is a very pretty buff badass chick. Mako and Bolin though, man I’m down either way lol. THE NEXT EPISODE THOUGH!!!! So glad you’re loving this season, it’s soooooo fucking good!
