2023-01-24 00:05:58 +0000 UTCOda was actually asked about Luffy not killing his enemies way early in the series (in the manga there are fan questions he answers at the end of many chapters which are sometimes informative and sometimes just quite hilarious) and this was his answer for why Luffy doesn't kill: "The reason Luffy doesn't kill is this: In his era, men live by their beliefs and risk their lives to defend them. Luffy shatters the beliefs of his enemies by defeating them. For them to suffer defeat and to have their beliefs destroyed is as bad as death. Killing their bodies is beside the point."
