Hey hello again. 

As a reminder, I haven't improved the beta until now, only focusing on the eventual release of chapter one, so here it is, finally addressing the neglected minigame. 

I have been working on the minigame for these last 10 days. Starting by finally sitting down and hunting that nasty bug that sometimes caused the game to freeze progress and getting stuck in an endless idle. This means that I had to sit for hours and hours trying new ideas, like recording the screen as I played the minigame so I could see the error on repeat after it happened. Sometimes it only happened after 10 mins, sometimes only after 40 seconds. So the nature of it was really slow but I still can't claim victory over the bug. There is a small chance I just haven't encountered myself, even after like 3 hours of just playing it in loop plus some hours of just testing unrelated improvements to it.

So the big victory has been definitely improving how the minigame flows.

The gif looks way faster already than older captures of it, but runs even better in person. Now the damage text appears when the hit happens, not 2 seconds later. Also shadows and better positioning and movements of the sprites.

Remember each time a new turn happened? All sprites blinked for no reason. Now that doesn't happen anymore. A more robust and flexible way to handle the sprites got implemented allowing me more ways to move them around. Great success!

"But those are 7 months-old sprites!" 

I know! I have neglected working on the minigame for quite a bit, more important stuff first. But now I'm pushing more content into it. Previously in Dev notes 2 I revealed a bunch of unfinished sprites. I got some more work on those too. And Linnea sprite makes the first appearance. 

This progress here took me 2 days, for context.

So I'm feeling like launching an update to the beta build in around 10 days to showcase the reworked minigame with more content there and the Spanish and Russian (thanks to Hitman) translation for the story.
