"Where... are we, Dr. Alphys?" Jenny said, staring ahead into the dark room filled with people and flashing lights.
Alphys, wearing a loose-fitting shirt and some shorts for a change, stood next to Jenny and reached up to put a hand on the tall fox's back. "We... are at Club Phoenix. It's a place that's a few blocks off of Unity Square." She pulled up Jenny's much tighter and more shorter shorts, making the fox yelp a bit.
"Er... I thought you said that we would be going somewhere fun." Jenny squinted inside, mostly spotting people just standing around or sitting. "People don't look like they're having fun..."
"Not yet they aren't," Alphys said, stepping in front of Jenny and looking the fox over. Her outfit for Jenny was looking perfect for fitting in with the location. A short shirt, the short shorts, some striped leggings, a few glowsticks wrapped around her wrists and her ankles. She had even applied a bit of blue hair dye on Jenny's head fur. In the darkness of the club, Jenny now looked just like a seasoned clubber. "Mhm... in this light, everything looks perfect," she mumbled. "Good to know that my research wasn't off on that front, heh..."
"So... when does the fun actually start then?" Jenny asked, tilting her head. "There's music playing but no one is dancing. Does no one like this song?" The fox frowned. "I'm not sure how this is going to help me understand how people on Unity work. This is just making me more confused."
Alphys cleared her throat and looked up at Jenny, adjusting her glasses. "People at the club, just like in other areas in life, are held back by their inhibitions. Stagnation in social spaces often feels comfortable, and breaking that equilibrium is not usually perceived as being desirable until it actually happens."
Jenny blinked. "What does that mean?" Before she had time to mull that over, Alphys grabbed Jenny's hand and started to pull her toward the bar.
"It means we have to get in here and make the place a little more lively. Then people will start to want to join in," the little kobold monster said with a smile. "That will be the best learning experience for you here."
Jenny eye's filled with clarity. "Oh, OK! Sounds good!"
