Not As They Seem Episode Discussion

I apologize.  This was supposed to come out Sunday, but it was scheduled wrong and scheduled for NEXT Sunday.  HA!  And of course no one logged on to notice this error so it left you all with nothing for two days.

Anyways, we were happy with this comic, but it isn't drawing in good numbers unfortunately.  Not even 100 notes and less than 800 views.  Our normal is 4,000 views.

What is your favorite type of donut?  My personal favorite?  Hmmm.  Well these is this Mexican bakery in town that produces the best assortment of cakes, donuts, and pastries!  You can fill up a bag with about 5 different things for roughly $1USD!  I don't know how they even make any money on anything!  They have these terrific moist yellow cakes.  I'm not sure what they are, but they are good.  They also have these shell shaped things that come in pink, yellow, light blue, etc.  They have a sugary powder coating.  Plus these awesome doughy twists which have two different colored doughs, and it is caked in cinnamon!  Yum!  Also who doesn't like a cream filled donut with a chocolate topping?

Ugh... Big Mac looks horrible!  Come on art team, we got to come up with a uniform design for him!  Granny Smith's second appearance in the series as well.

I was looking to see if there was a successor business but it doesn't appear so. Their Facebook page is still open but hasn't been updated since 17'. Read an article about them in the Willamette Weekly online.

Seems like they closed down in 2017. You can find a youtube video of a local TV news show where the host briefly interviews with a worker in there. The worker started a crowdfunding project so that the shop won't close down. I guess it didn't work out...

Oh sweet! Thanks. Places noted for future endeavors in the PacNW. Looking forward to it for...researching purposes of course. ;-)

Guess what, I think I found its name. Donut Byte Labs, located right outside Chinatown. $0.25 for each plain mini donut. What I got from them was the $3-for-3 glazed mini donut. It was marked as permanently closed on Google Maps, though.

I was thinking about Voodoo Donuts and Blue Star Donuts, the ones that they tell the tourists to try out... Actually there were some small donut food carts just right across the street from Voodoo Donuts that sell simpler donuts for a cheap price. I think I once bought 3 mini-donuts (not donut holes) for $1.25 there, but I have no way to verify that now. Hope their business is still staying alive...

Do you know the name of the donut place? I remember there was a place that made mini donuts and filled them in a bag for cheap. Cinnamon, plain, or powdered sugar... actually, I think I am thinking of Seattle's Pike Place Market...

I've been to Portland once and I'm still missing their donuts.
