Get your ideas made into an Adventurer's Guide!

Luke and I are creating a free test for new Patreon tiers, which is open to everyone, so we need your ideas! :D

For the new tiers, we have teamed up with the insanely talented artist Art of Caustic, as well as the great writer Stephen L. Nowland. Our plan is that (if this test is successful) every month Caustic will paint 3 weapons, 3 adventurer's items, 3 NPC portraits, and 1 map of a town or city!

This is where you come in. Tell us what you want made for December's test! We want to see how well these new tier ideas work before we make them a regular thing, so we need you to comment with descriptions of the below:

CREATE CHARACTERS. Give us the name, general description and species for a character, as well as an area in a town they might hang out in, what they like, dislike, and their general demeanour. Help us bring them to life!

For example, a male dwarf with a white stripe in his otherwise black hair, who wears brass clockwork armor, a monocle, and carries a crowssbow. He’s most likely somewhere in the magic district, as a hired guard for some strange and dangerous goods. He hates cutpurses and will gladly strangle any kender / halfling he finds thieving about, but has a soft-spot for strong, dwarven spirits.

All PCs and NPCs will end up in this test's town map. Note the character names need to fit into a fantasy setting and not infringe copyright (sorry, Lord Soth). There’s a lot of fun to be had here! :D

DESIGN AN OUTPOST TOWN (just for this test, in future the town map will be completely open). Tell us what the main landmarks are, basic descriptions, etc.

For example, an outpost town built in the heart of a cursed forest, with white marble walls run by holy crusaders seeking to cleanse the area. At it's heart is a small cathedral where the paladins and clerics go to worship, while elsewhere are busy forges creating weapons. Beyond the town is a fallen meteorite, which this group's leader suspects has something to do with the curse.

FORGE LEGENDARY WEAPONS. Let us know what type of weapon it is, for example bastard sword, flail, battleaxe, etc. Then tell us more about its general appearance, and what it does. Does it spit flames? Freeze their opponents into ice before shattering them? Is it a vampiric dagger, perhaps? Go wild!

MAKE ADVENTURER'S ITEMS. Let us know what type of item it is, for example a mask that possesses its user, boots made out of beetle shells with little, living legs beneath them, or even a set of magical gloves that gives its wearer extra, ghost arms three times a day. Describe what it looks like, and what it does. \(^.^)/

Once we have your ideas, Luke and I will pick our 3 favourites from each category and send your descriptions to Caustic to paint.

After that, Stephen will compile the map, its key landmarks, factions / clans, and your NPCs into an Adventurer's Guide. Like this, they'll be preserved in TTRPG lore forever! On top of that, we'll also format smaller .PDFs for the weapons and adventurer's items, stats included.

Once we've made this first Adventurer's Guide and extras with your help, they'll be released online to everyone for free! Like this, Luke and I will be able to get a good idea of how much you guys like it or not, and whether we can make it a regular monthly occurrence.

Please comment with your ideas! :D

Hey Mark we've got all the ideas for the first month of new releases but I'm thinking I might make a new post next month to gather more ideas for the month after that. So if you want to save the idea I should have the post up maybe between the 1st-3rd next month. :) ~ Luke

Are you still collecting ideas for this?

Elvira and Mr BugBugs Summary ; a lost young tiefling orphan with magical powers and a teddy that turns into an 8ft tall Bugbear protector. Elvira is a young tiefling orphan girl who has been spotted about town recently. Her only possession is a teddy bear (a bugbear!) who she holds close and talks to. Elvira arrived In Town recently and can’t remember where she came from and only knows that she escaped “some bad men” and that “Mr bugBugs looked after her” She is seen about town helping anyone who needs help and kicking her heals off the docks. She always keeps Mr BugBugs close. Elvira has magical powers that she is not really aware of. She innocently has true sight and does not realise it. Mr BugBugs is a magical teddy that grants healing bonus, CHRS saves (when you hug him) and turns into a tall bugBear protector when Elvira is in danger. Bad people are looking for Elvira…. Will the PCs help DM tip - Elvira should be spotted about town and mentioned in passing for a few scenarios before she is fully introduced or before a senario is built about her.

Character/Weapon/Town idea from a campaign I'm currently playing as: Character: Ichorath Colvaarn, Chronurgist Wizard. Tall and lanky and barely of legal age for high elfves, he is dressed in assassin's light armor under his tight fitting war mage robes (like if wizards wore duster coats) and a fancy musketeer style hat. He owns a religious strip club and is regarded as a psychedelic mushroom connoisseur. Weapon: the Wrong End. Basically it's the worst interpretation of a sword staff cuz instead of a blade, it's the hilt/handle at the end. It looks weird, like someone put a wooden staff on a great-sword instead of a blade. It's a +2 focus/weapon that can apply hallucinogenic poison on a victim it hits. Outpost Town: Craobh Agus'tur. Recently a war swept the world and the First Tree died, this town is the beginning of rebuilding and the site of the new Tree. Directly next to the tree is Ichorath's see through mage's tower. The town is full of the displaced gnome population, and others who lost their homes/towns in the war. Other than the Tree and tower, there are farms, wyvern breeding/training grounds, mushroom growing caves, a mage college, a dock ward (which includes a shipyard), THE Party Hall (a massive building specifically for hedonistic pursuit), and outside the city is a war games battleground for mercenaries and professional soldiers to train.

Character. Malhavoc Shadowlord, an Elven Magus. For a while Malhavoc helped local pirates to steal merchant vessels at anchor using his ability to swim underwater and cut the anchor ropes.

Outpost town: A small village on an outcropping of a chalk cliff above the sea. The landward side is defended by an earthen berm with a row of palisades on top, the other sides are inaccessible without the aid of flight or the winches and ladders the inhabitants use to move trade goods to and from the small harbour down below.

Weapon: Staff of conjure oozes because that is just super cool and would love to see art for that.

James P

LEGENDARY WEAPONS: A spear forged from the slag of a slain rust drake and tarnishes the armor of any for hit with it. Causing the joints of heavy armor to bind causing dexterity, movement, or AC lose, and just making them look plain ugly.

James P

Character: A kobold who worship a clockwork goddess and love gears and machinery. He is small with green scales, lighter on the chest and a long tail. He hangs around the town junkyard collecting broken and thrown away magic items, trying to fix them with bizarre results.

I'm eager to see what people come up with!
