Hey Harris, nothing wrong with viewing with a western mindset. 😂 I'm doing the same thing! It's probably why I will always have a love/hate with Asian cinema, cuz of my western views, and I'm Asian and a woman! 😅🤷♀️ So just imagine how much harder some situations look to me! This one is pretty close though..it was perfect casting and story telling.

Yeong-bum didn't love her enough. At the end of the day, he was the only one who could've saved their future. Yeah, you can argue that social status, money, and power plays a large part, but people have also given up more for what they really wanted. He just didn't love her enough. I'm glad she ended it. My older sis went through a long relationship too. She dated this f.o.b. dude for 8 yrs, helped him through high school, college, job..etc. They broke up anyways.

Both of them got a proper closure, and we can move on to the next chapter of geumyeong's life. Many viewers dislike/hate yeongbeom, which is understandable. He was quite a coward, but I get where he was coming from. It's not easy. still, if he had the guts he would have chosen his girl, just like gwanshik did. That man is the dream.
