New Patreon Stuff
Added 2025-02-19 20:10:17 +0000 UTCSo over the last few weeks, Patreon has been adding new features. It is now possible to have a store, where you sell whatever you want. It's basically a separate part of your Patreon page.
You can also set a price on individual posts and collections, selling them as a one-time purchase.
I am curious to know what all of you think about this stuff? Is it "totally awesome" and something every creator should be doing? Is it sorta, "Meh, whatever"? Or do you think it's total crap?
I would like to know! :D

I think it's all about options. Consumers like options. The more options we provide, the better! :)

2025-02-22 20:49:25 +0000 UTCI imagine that would be based on the content creator. My thought is to "sell" a single installment of a comic for $1. So for the $3 subscription, you get 4 of those a month. So yes, the subscription is technically cheaper. But if you only buy the 1 comic a month that you like and ignore the rest, then it would be cheaper for that person to buy individually.

2025-02-20 19:36:18 +0000 UTCI am undecided myself. Though people have been asking me for years for a way to purchase one specific comic in its entirety without having to subscribe. This might be it.

2025-02-20 17:24:14 +0000 UTCI have had several people over the years ask me to provide such an option for exactly the reasons you noted. It just wasn't practical before now.

2025-02-20 14:37:38 +0000 UTCI can see the appeal, depending on what type of product the creator makes. If someone has a large library of works like you, and someone only wants one or two of them it might be simpler, and more convenient to just pay for them and not have to deal with a recurring payment or sign up then remove there pledge after getting just what they wanted. For other creators such as those who only make 1 thing that they keep updating such as a game it makes less sense.
