Even in the advanced future, energy remains a core resource that poses problems for societies and civilizations across the galaxy. From fueling advanced starships to powering entire planets, the quest for energy is an ever-present challenge for the most technologically advanced civilizations.

But with great challenges come great opportunities for innovation, and this month we are excited to present a new collection of sci-fi miniatures that celebrate the genius and creativity of those who seek to solve the Energy Crisis.

In the neon-lit metropolis of Titan City, Doctor Alva Light stood as a celebrated inventor and engineer. His countless patents, including the self-repairing fusion grid and the hyper-conductive plasma engine, had transformed the city into a high-tech utopia. The lives of those who could afford his technology were never the same.

But Light's crowning achievement was the Direct Quantum Drift (DQ) technology, a groundbreaking energy source for advanced robots. Basking in glory, he worked intimately with the city council and attended countless prestigious events.

Nicolas Coil, a young idealist and talented engineer fueled by a thirst for knowledge and innovation, had journeyed to Titan City with dreams of joining Doctor Light's illustrious workshop. However, he soon discovered that his idol was more interested in maintaining his empire than in pushing the boundaries of science. Instead, Alva was content with making minor updates to his existing inventions and presenting them as revolutionary while amassing a fortune.

Disillusioned, Nicolas secretly repurposed Alva's resources to work on a groundbreaking technology that would advance robotics. He experimented with gravitational waves, nanotech batteries, and antimatter reactors, but the solution was right under his nose. By altering Alva's Direct Quantum Drift into an Alternate Quantum Drift (AQ), he exponentially improved the robots' power. The new technology involved utilizing quantum entanglement to draw energy from multiple dimensions simultaneously, significantly increasing efficiency and output.

When Alva discovered Nicolas's insubordination, he promptly fired him and launched a media smear campaign against Alternate Quantum Drift, painting it as unstable and hazardous to Titan City. Though Nicolas's research persisted, his funding dwindled, and those who dared work with him were labeled as lunatics.

At the annual Energy Show, both inventors showcased their latest creations. Alva unveiled the Def Warrior, a hulking, plasma cannon-wielding behemoth, while Nicolas revealed Drod Sinclair, an agile scout with an array of surveillance capabilities and a charming sidekick drone named Crabbo. The crowd was captivated by this new branch of robots and the scales of favor were shifting towards Nicolas.

As night fell, Nicolas staged a spectacular demonstration: a squadron of his Coil Guards, inexpensive servant and bodyguard robots, marched in perfect formation and executed dazzling stunts. Everyone was amazed and even Alva publicly praised Nicolas as a genius.

But privately he viewed him as the largest threat to his supremacy and was set on destroying him. He arranged for the theft of a Coil Guard, then rigged Nicolas' robot with explosives and detonated it in the city streets, causing casualties and turning public opinion against Nicolas.

In a passionate speech, Alva condemned Nicolas as a rogue and unhinged inventor. He took responsibility for bringing Nicolas to Titan City and vowed to personally solve the problem, announcing he would send a new robot army to destroy Nicolas's workshop. The citizens cheered, frightened of AQ after Alva's deception.

Based on the advanced technology of the Coil Guards, Alva had created a new line of robots known as Tacbots. Thanks to Alva's vast resources, he had created an entire army of them.

As the Tacbots marched through the streets of Titan City, their gleaming metal bodies shimmering in the neon lights, Alva stood at the head of the procession. Determined to eliminate the competition, he led his army of Tacbots on a journey to the Borderlands, the secluded place where Nicolas worked.

They approached a heavily fortified compound that seemed to pulse with energy. The walls were topped with barbed wire, but it wasn't the metallic kind - it was a pure energy field that crackled and hummed with power.

Behind the walls, one could see the large coils shimmering in a blue light. They were the source of the energy that powered Alva's inventions, and they gathered quantum energy from the environment around them.

Despite Nicolas's valiant efforts, including wielding his own coil staff in combat, coils unleashing devastating arc lightnings from behind the walls, the Coil Guards, despite their larger power, were outnumbered by Tacbots. It seemed that Nicolas's defeat was imminent. That's when he opened the gates of his workshop.

Alva took this as an act of surrender. He rushed with his forces towards the entrance thinking of all the technology he was about to claim and steal. But what he encountered was a fleet of Coil Tanks that have just finished charging their powerful quantum energy weaponry. In a single, devastating blast, the Tacbots army was annihilated.

Although Nicolas had secured victory, he became disillusioned with humanity, retreating into his workshop and isolating himself from the world. He devoted his time to improving his weaponry and defenses, losing his mind in the process, confiding only in his robots and installing a dead-man switch that would destroy all his creations upon his death, as society was not worthy of his inventions.

Alva, on the other hand, has managed to flee but was left terrified and haunted by his actions. Others believed his story that he has defeated Nicolas and stripped him of all resources making further research of AQ impossible. Deep down, however, he knew he had been outshone as an inventor and could not forgive himself for the lives he had taken. Every waking hour, he expected Nicolas to return and destroy the entire Titan City with one quantum snap.
