Control - Big Sean ft. Kendrick Lamar & Jay Electronica

Drake's a baby

Like others have mentioned, Kendrick's verse was for sport, not because he had a legitimate issue with anyone. Drake too exception to it, and the subliminal disses started after this. A bunch of New York rappers were offended by Kendrick calling himself the King of NY, so there were a bunch of responses based on that, but none of it went anywhere. And even though Jay Electronica was on the song, he was upset by the verse, and he started taking shots at Kendrick. Kendrick's never really addressed him, but Ab-Soul said in a song that he would handle it if he needed to, because he didn't want Kendrick to get his hands dirty while he was set to receive the key to the City of Compton. But for future consideration, Kendrick heard Big Sean had a problem with him, so he did diss Sean on the OG version of Element, but Sean caught wind of it, the two of them talked it out, chocking it up to a misunderstanding, and Kendrick recording a different version that ended up on DAMN. Final note, I totally get the struggle with the layers in the production. It's prevalent in some of J. Cole's work, so if you go that route, just know that you'll run into that same issue.
