Jungle Japes (Hi-Res + Extra Thoughts)

A painting for ThornDracorn and Kurrikage! Gargantua (Thorn) seems angry at Blake (Kurrikage) over something... Look, I'm just here for the leaves, man. Leave me out of this. This doesn't look like the start of any jape to me.

Whoof. This one made me stumble quite a lot! The effort was worth it, of course, but man, I forget sometimes how tough forest-y or jungle environments can be. Really gotta sit down and find a way to do them a bit more efficiently. Wound up eating a lot of my time without even realizing. But man, the characters were so fun, as these two always are to work with. c:

Man. Forests. Foliage. It's almost as relaxing as clouds are for me to paint... But take three times as long. I still feel like I haven't yet cracked the code on how to set up and paint them just yet. I need to account for that in the future, I think. That or find a really good tutorial. I look at art by, like, MTG artists and I'm blown away by how -real- their leaves and trees look and feel and are structured. I want those secrets.

Beyond that, though, I really am happy with this. I'm not happy it took me this long to get to Thorn and Kurri, as they really are two of my favorite people to work with -- every idea they have is gold, and they end up making for some of the best images I do because they're just so -fun-. But I believe this was for AC 2019. Not paid until now, of course, but man, I'm behind. That or I don't yet understand how many people actually want my work. Which could be a standalone article on its own, talking about imposter syndrome and everything, which I also felt while here.

I am incredibly humbled that, yet again, these two loved this image. Heck, that goes to anyone I get to work with. My biggest fear is letting someone down after making them wait even a little bit longer than expected. Gotta keep trying harder, gotta keep moving. No time to dwell. Going to need to find some lessons and get to studying.

Thank you guys, so much, for your support at this level. I truly appreciate it. This month has been rough with COVID-19, and every little bit has helped. I hope you all are staying safe over where you are as well, and stay healthy...!! Hopefully this passes sooner rather than later.
