Ideas in Sarah's Brain
Added 2018-08-02 14:17:02 +0000 UTCHey, guys! I hope you've had a chance to read the new book!
While drafting Wings of the Seraph 4 (tentative title: The Last Blade), I've also been brainstorming other future ideas I thought I would share with you. This is all very preliminary but I wouldn't mind knowing what you are interested in!
- The Amazon's Vengeance: At some point I will continue this story. I kind of want to treat it like an "Avengers" of the Highwind universe where I can pull in characters from other stories. I'm thinking of swapping to 3rd person for this, so different chapters can have a different pov.
- The Ranger-General: Did you guys like the last RGS book? I haven't decided if I want to do another story with Serrane before TAV or just integrate her into the overall narrative. I think she would have some fun interactions with Valuri (who could feed off her!).
- The Eternal Priestess: Khalina (of DFF#1 fame) is on the prowl for more seed! I actually want to explore the lore of the Eternal Priestesses a bit and develop her as a character that can perhaps be part of the team/harem in TAV series. My thought here is that she returns to the Reaches after the events of TAP#6, sees the world in flames, and becomes convinced she is going to birth the new messiah by collecting a bunch of Premium Manseed™. She's partnered with a male druid shapeshifter (a new organization to develop!) who helps her navigate a world she doesn't understand, and of course he wants to shag her. Repeatedly.
- Silhouette: A thought I've been rolling around for a while: what if Solemi's monicker is based on a historical figure? The idea is that the book is set in the distant past during the original war between the surface elves and the drow. There's a neutral city where a half-elf, half-drow hybrid named Silhouette is a powerful courtesan - she knows the fetish of every general on both sides, and naturally she gets sucked into the greater conflict. In some ways this would be the spiritual successor to the Elf Slave series but I think I am a better writer than 4-5 years ago.
- The Dragon Prince: I've long had an idea on the back burner set in the continent of Dragon Bride where the main characters would be "Wyrmidons," aka humans who can transform into dragons (kind of a reversal of the normal trope where dragons take human form).
Thoughts, my lovelies?

I'll take that as another vote to do some PoV shifting in the future!

2018-08-05 22:27:38 +0000 UTCI enjoyed the second Ranger-General book a lot and more of it would be great. Personally I like stories told from the female point of view more than those from the male one.

2018-08-05 19:57:04 +0000 UTCI would say ranger general or wyrmidon (haven't read DFF yet). Btw Huntress origins was awesome, so anything with Valuri would be good too :)

2018-08-04 18:19:49 +0000 UTCI doubt I would do that in a normal book, but that's something I would definitely do if I decide to open the short commission things. I'll have to think about it for a bit.

2018-08-03 21:09:30 +0000 UTCWhat are your thoughts on the idea of a story with a modern character summoned to the tap world?

2018-08-03 20:59:40 +0000 UTCI have wondered about that since most of my readers (at least here) seem to be guys. Maybe that is another reason to have some shifting perspectives in the next TAP series. I also probably need to add a 2nd male pov character aside from Jorem. Anyway, you should finish TAP (and then Huntress and RGS!) and let me know what you think!

2018-08-03 13:43:19 +0000 UTCPersonally I haven't finished TAP yet. I'm still in the middle of book 3. I also have yet to finish the first book of the ranger general. Can't say much about that, but so far, after a few chapters, I like the general, but a girl's perspective doesn't connect with me. I'd love to see her integrated into the main story of TAP, maybe have her join the harem :D ? Interactions with Valuri do sound very nice.

2018-08-03 13:23:57 +0000 UTCNot exactly. The "transfered to another world" genre of stories got really popular lately in anime. Basically the overall plot is of a guy from our modern world being magically transported to a fantasy world because he was summoned to be a hero and defeat a powerful demon. Usually the main character is pretty OP for their standarts in terms of power and/or still keeps his knowledge/memories of our world which helps him with his journey.

2018-08-03 12:57:46 +0000 UTCLike litrpg or interplanar travel?
Sarah Hawke
2018-08-03 12:40:36 +0000 UTCI was actually thinking of suggesting something the other day, but first let me ask - ever considered doing one of those "transfered to another world" type story in the world of TAP?

2018-08-03 08:43:24 +0000 UTC...Sometimes, I feel bad that there's this whole chunk of your work I'm just not super into... Honestly, that first part is absolutely a fair enough point. It sure sounds like *The Eternal Priestess* is the one you're most into, is the most complete as an idea, and is the next logical point in the story so... I guess I have to recommend it on those grounds? Also, I admit that developing her beyond where she was in that story can only be a good thing.

2018-08-02 23:42:49 +0000 UTCI pretty much only do 1st or 3rd limited, which are basically the same thing except with the latter you can switch PoVs between chapters more easily.

2018-08-02 23:25:14 +0000 UTCI think it was only last year but I feel like I write very different stories than the original DFFs now. As for Dragon Prince, it wouldn't have anything to do with DB directly. Mostly a chance to work through more lore I didn't have a chance to include because DB never took off.

2018-08-02 23:24:13 +0000 UTC...And yet, I didn't really like her solo story much... 's a bit too cruel for me, even if the guy in question really shoulda questioned his good fortune a little harder. Also, philosophical opposition to druids and the worship of nature generally, but that's more of a private bugbear than actual discussion. ...I guess, of the options offered, I'd maybe like the Dragon Prince? But then I'd have to read the prequel, and it doesn't sound like my jam...

2018-08-02 22:26:07 +0000 UTCYup, I generally prefer first person as it often gives more insight of what a character's thinking. And they can more naturally reflect on past event. But this can be done fine in third person as well.

2018-08-02 19:36:55 +0000 UTCDid you like reading her perspective in Huntress?
Sarah Hawke
2018-08-02 19:21:42 +0000 UTCThe Eternal Priestesses will play a role in that answer!

2018-08-02 19:19:39 +0000 UTCAnything with more Valuri gets my vote (I thought Red was going to fuck Serrane first tho XD, that's what Valuri thought anyway)

2018-08-02 17:33:59 +0000 UTCGuess we find out for sure if the bitter old wizard was right, and religion is a lie and the opiate of the masses...

2018-08-02 16:14:11 +0000 UTCI wouldn't quite call it a wasteland, but obviously it will be rife with chaos since many of the ruling groups just had the magical rug pulled out from under them.
Sarah Hawke
2018-08-02 15:37:42 +0000 UTC… Honestly, the fact that the world of the fantasy series seems to be, just as I feared, a post apocalyptic wasteland following the events of TAP #6 has kind of cooled my enthusiasm for more of it. I had some ideas for further space stuff, but I get the feeling you’re kind of looking for a break from that after doing a whole series of space stuff. So I’m not sure how useful they would be.
