It’s the perfect words Usopp needs to hear atm, but also I feel like this is a whole lesson about the crew. Not everyone needs to be strong, there are other ways to help out. Where one person lacks, the others make up for their shortcomings. We even saw it earlier this arc with Sanji being unable to fight Kalifa, and for having to let Nami take over for him. He has things he cannot do but there is no need to feel ashamed or useless if they help eachother out. Anyways that quote helped him realize that in that moment, only he could prevent Robin from boarding the Marine ships at that point. If it hadn't been for Usopp's skills at that moment, all the crew's efforts may have been for naught.

They will always jump in and do what the other can’t without hesitation Luffy said it all the way back in Arlong Park, He can’t become the pirate king on his own, and in fact there’s so much stuff he can’t do. He can’t cook, he can’t navigate, he can’t use swords, he doesn’t even know how to lie. But it’s fine, because his crew can and will do all of that for him. Robin can’t allow herself to live because the world government wants her dead, but it’s fine because she has friends who will go on war against the entire world just for her. Sanji refusing to fight women is also fine because Nami will be there to beat Kalifa's ass for him even if we find it annoying or see that trait of his as an annoying weakness Even the small things like looking out for Zoro so he doesn’t get lost lmao. totally agree, the fights imo aren't what make one piece a great show. There are a lot of animes with amazing fights, and one piece has some pretty good fights in there that i can see animated rlly well with the new adaption, but for me it's all about the adventure, the world building, the characters and their relationships. i think one piece does an amazing job with making me feel connected to characters, even to ones i only see for a handful of episodes like saul and tom, and bringing it back to the characters i love and seeing how those ppl impact each other and the themes the story creates

Just to clarify Spandam does not have authority for the buster call himself. Aokiji lent it to him for this mission. Spandam mentions this earlier in the arc. Which is crazy considering how Spandam is and Aokiji definitely should have known how much of a risk it was. Also Granny being a mermaid is pretty obvious since she was close to Tom who is a merman and she can speak to Yokozuna.

It makes me sad to see people say it's just something you have to deal with as if it's something to be tolerated and not something to be enjoyed. One piece has always been a goofy fun show, it's supposed to be entertaining how goofy and off the wall the characters are, if you are just tolerating the gags and waiting for the next serious moment it must get pretty insufferable to watch. That being said I totally understand the frustration of how much cp9 change in this arc, I think having the ones introduced on EL being goofy and the og members being more serious would have been a better balance than what we ended up with.

I have to say, one of my favorite things about yalls reaction is how hype you get whenever gear 2 or gear 3 shows up. Oda sprinkled it just right so we’re left hoping for more and then when it happens, it’s just perfect. And I think this fight in particular really showcases how much of a battle genius Luffy is, to use his rubber attributes that way.

Thing is that it's just not done right. Turning Kaku into a giraffe cancels out all seriousness. Kalifa had that dangerous wip with her and her aura gave off some of hat "femme fatale" energy. Basically all gone because of her devil fruit and nerfed to the ground because she had to be the one to fight Nami.

I know McKay was hyped for the "serious" stuff, but I feel like Oda likes to blend in the depressive stuff with some light-hearted comedy to break it up. The mood switch can definitely be jarring especially after how CP9 was introduced as this super secret covert intelligence agency and then they're really just a bunch of goofs. I went back to check regular One Piece because I was surprised that we barely even saw the gear second in action at the beginning. I guess my feelings were right, they took out some other nice scenes where we see the gear 2 in action with some of Lucci's inner monologue. It's 2 minutes worth and while the animation is not as solid visually it still showcases a good amount of Luffy's use of the gear 2. Without that we barely get some action with gear 2 at the start. There's some other good stuff they left out but I can kinda understand that (Jabra's lie comes with a fake flashback which makes it even funnier) but with the big fight they should have taken some liberties here and kept it in. One Pace is such a double edged sword man.

It took me until water 7 to fall in love (it didn’t become my number 1 for two more arcs ☺️) and I said it before, Luffy vs Lucci was the first one piece fight I actually enjoyed up until this point. The fights definitely get better. But I hated the spaghetti fight, the soap fight and others. Those moments are not what makes one piece so special to me and I think it’s okay

people who are defending these fights look me straight in the eyes and tell me how much you enjoyed kaku vs zoro and wanze without sounding like you’re a hostage. im with you about one piece is silly and whimsical but it was not done well here and which is why oda doesn’t do it this way anymore. because this formula doesn’t work where we’re at in the story. if the silliness were dumped at maybe fodder, the ones cranky family took on, sure. but to have it deep in and soak the main fights? it straight up ruined it. it doesn’t help that oda paved the way for the strawhats to avoid any unnecessary fighting until cp9 and that fell short. gags and jokes outside of the fights were funny sure. but the fights were buns you can still enjoy a piece of media while still criticizing, oda did not reach where he is today if it was not from learning from his mistakes and improve where he fell short. i can name so many future fights that are silly but fun to look at and rewatch, but this ain’t it, this was the weakest point of Enies lobby for me

It's definitly sad to see that Oda went for the comedy final battles for this one. Especially Kalifa and Kaku, both were so cool in W7 but with their devil fruits they become so ridiculous. They should have kept the seriousness and psychopathy of Lucci man. Zoro's fight is definitly disappointing because of that. Nami's power is definitly nonsense and not fun to follow. And let's be honest, that random aspect of One Piece will never really disappear lol. It's just something you'll have to deal with. I'd even say that at some point it gets far worse, I thought this arc had it really toned down until Wanze. I did think that aside from Luffy's battle, Franky's and Sanji's were awesome too. Especially Franky's despite how Fukurou seems like a joke, it was an intense battle with some epic moments. Wish it was the case for the others.

Honestly, as much as I like One Piece and Enies Lobby, I've had multiple moments that I found boring/hard to watch even with you guys and even with One Pace (I actually didn't even watch the reactions on some of the previous uploads yet, skipped to the 'good' parts, but I'll watch.. eventually...) I prefer Water7 in its entirety, I hardly ever felt bored at all during that arc, although it's true that Enies Lobby has the highest peaks. I do really enjoy the Lucci-Luffy fight tho. All this just to say that if something seems random in one piece. It’s not always the case of oda just adding stuff into the story to extend scenes or just for fun. One piece is an epic and a long running series in design that goes hard in subtle foreshadowing that seems meaningless in a first watch through and every arc connects to each other. One piece is a story that gets better in every watch though.

I can see that the geks don’t like one piece’s comedy, it’s really a shame and I don’t get why people were complaining about this batch and the one before it. I enjoyed every cp9’s member fight especially in a rewatch. The animation were also impressive. However the kaku x zoro fight the animation was so stale Kokoro being a mermaid is heavily foreshadowed especially in the manga. The manga even shows that she has fins for legs in water 7 Sanji got the idea of Diablo jambe from his fight with wanze as sanji noticed that wanze’s skate when spinning so fast caused them to go on fir, he even show an interest in his face when it happens Ussop got the sogeking mask from the train as you can see one of the scene their is a suitcase that has a mask in it that resembles the mask that sogeking wears Chopper becoming a monster is such a good parallel of his character at drum island when he gets sad when people tells him his a monster and now he dosent mind becoming a monster if it means saving his friends I also have a question for you guys do you want a character to have distinct personality that represent themselves or all should be lucci for me and the reason I love Oda’s character writing is that he always make character that distinct and don’t fill copy and paste even if they are annoying their is 1000 named character in one piece non of them fill copy and paste, so of course most of them won’t be perfect as no Human is and that’s what make one piece’s character writing so special and distinct from other shows

Not that it's needed, but I wanted to compile summarized weather science bits to try validating Nami's new weather wizard class. Still outlandish in execution in the show, but there's something. - Mirages form from refractions of light passing through layers of air of different temperatures. When light passes from cooler, denser air to warmer, lighter air it can refract light. Real mirages make it look like there's water or a non-existent object in the distance. Might have seen wavy roads on super hot days where the heat on the road varies from the air above it. - Cloud formation (probably doesn't need an explanation but writing this anyway for fun) occurs when liquid water heats up, evaporates to water vapor, and cool down/condenses into visible clouds - Rain occurs when enough water vapor in formed clouds accumulate and succumb to gravity - Lightning occurs when cloud particles (ice crystals, etc.) collide causing a separation of electrical charges. Heavier, negative particles tend to move to the bottom of the cloud. Lighter, positive particles to the top. The positive and negative charges creates an electrical field between the top and bottom of the cloud, and between the cloud and ground. Discharge of electricity occurs when the electrical field of the cloud overcomes the insulating properties of air. Nami shooting electrical charges into charged clouds speeds up/activates the outcome. Is this possible with whatever bs the climatact is shooting out? Probably not. Unaware/can't remember if the tact's mechanisms ever gets explained (how it generate heat, cold, or electricity)
