carter, i know what you mean about feeling guilty. the thing that personally "bothers" me the most, is basically realizing si-eun wouldn’t be making these friends if everything that happened in season 1 hadn’t happened.. in a sense it’s like if suho wasn’t in a coma, we wouldn’t know these characters now. plus, si-eun making friends is a "new" concept to begin with. as much as he is reluctant, he is comfortable with his new group pretty quick comparing it to s1. suho literally showed him what it’s like to have and be a friend 😭

Aww hey Merry. I've missed seeing your posts. It's good to see you back on here. Aww yeah that makes sense. Fortunately enough, I was able to be surrounded by friends when I was growing up. Hope it's okay to share this on here and it's not oversharing too much. However, I had some trauma when I was younger in elementary school. I felt out of place and didn't really know how to take people and would get anxious. Plus, I didn't feel as if I fit in due to not any Koreans in my school in the U.S.A and not very many Asians for that matter either. Therefore, I felt like an outsider looking in a lot of the time like a fish out of water. I also felt scared and shy. It would make me get sick at school as in throwing up. I felt a lot of emotions and conflicted feelings. Thankfully, I eventually got over it once I entered middle school and up. Sorry I didn't mean to ramble on about myself. It just madr me think of it with this post. Also, I might be misunderstanding but I'm sorry you went through that :-( I'll be your friend. But in this episode hanging out with the guys and finally smiling seemed to bring him back to life. I really love Gotak and Baku's friendship. It's so heart-warming and fun to see. They have such a strong bond like brothers who love to pick on each other but also protect and lift the other one up when they need it the most. They have each other's back like true loyal friends. It was also hilarious how they both were scared of Sieun when he entered the classroom both putting their guard up. It was cute. And I also felt guilty and bad for getting attached to Sieun's new friend group at the beginning. Because, I missed Suho. His absence weighed heavily... But once I saw how much Baku, Gotak, and Juntae genuinely cared about our boy, I was happy and relieved that he was finally able to find friends again that will be there for him through all his obstacles and help him get over his trauma and guilt of his painful past. I just want Sieun to find true happiness and for his mind and heart to be at peace once for all. He deserves it after everything he's been through. He's such a strong character but I love how he's vulnerable too. However, I can understand him being apprehensive to let people enter his life again due to fear of them getting hurt because of him. I would be the same if I was in his situation He's such a caring soul.

Rewatched this the second time with my grandfather. He's korean and learning english so I wasn’t sure how much he’d catch. But turns out, he didn’t need subtitles to feel your vibe. Tho Suho may not be physically here, he's everywhere. He is for one, the emotional core of Sieun in this season. He's the scar Sieun refuses to show, the name he doesn’t say. There's also just so many parallels if we look deeper. Every loyalty tested, every fist thrown, every moment someone chooses to protect instead of destroy, I see Suho in all of it.

I think everyone can agree that season two wouldn’t hit quite as hard without season one. Knowing what Sieun went through adds so much depth and it makes his moments with the new characters feel that much more meaningful. Season one was super cohesive since it was built around the “concept” of a backstory, so they had the freedom to shape it from the ground up. Season two had the challenge of adapting the Webtoon storyline, figuring out what to include or cut while staying true to its more comedic tone. The two seasons definitely have different vibes but I think that contrast actually makes the story even more engaging!

Because he said sieun never really got to express himself much, but baku does. And he wanted to know what it would feel like to have people follow him and have admiration for him like baku does.

(Sorry in advanced for the long comment): I want to assume they call him “baku” because if you say his actual name really fast in the way koreans say his name it sounds like “baku”. So his name is “Park Hu-Min”. When koreans say his name they pronounce it as, “Pawk Hew Men”, but they say it so fast, it sounds like they are saying “bawk-cumin”, but the emphasis is on the “bawk-cu” part. It’s like when we say someone’s name really fast and whatever it sounds like when you say it fast becomes their nickname. But also, “baku” could have another meaning as well because each name in korea has individual meanings to each portion or could sound close to the pronunciation of something else in Korean. Kinda like it could be something relating to something specific to him like his personality or an incident or action that he reminds everyone of that stuck with him over time.

Just so you guys know: a few things and jokes put in baku’s dialogue or references to certain things seems to tie into another drama that the actor for baku played in called “twinkling watermelon”. The part when he answered, “my dad” when gotak asked him where he got his whole impersonation from in the beginning of this ep it’s like a paying of homage to that drama. Reason is because actor for suho played his character’s 18yo father in “twinkling watermelon”. People have said that baku’s personality reminds them of the 18yo father from twinkling watermelon because they both have bold, cheerful and rambunctious personalities. And to add, the 18yo father also was a big fan of and reading the comic “slam dunk” in twinkling watermelon as well. So in a way, it seems like they are trying to help bring the essence of suho into the series while he’s in a coma through the character of baku.

I love Jun Tae's character, he is just happy to be there and also he didn't hesitate to ask for help. He wanted his bullies to stop and the only way around it was to stand up for himself. I also appreciate that when he does something for someone like giving vitamins to Si eun he did it because he was grateful and not because he wanted to be on Si Eun's good side (unlike David)

Honestly a lot of people compare David and Jun-tae because they were both bullied, softer spoken, (and originallyyy) kind, and wear glasses - but yeah, its true that their situations were entirelyyy different. Jun-tae had a support system in his friends at school prior to Si-eun coming along, and as far as we know has a presumably normal home life, whereas David had literally no one prior to Si-eun and Su-ho and was so horribly mistreated in every aspect of his life before :( The laugh I let out at the "Bro, I love David! I love David, I genuinely do! But he's a fricken rat and I hate him" was hilarious though 😂 Love the appreciation of character/circumstance complexities 🫶🏻

Ughh I totally get what Carter said. I felt weirdly guilty at first too..like I was betraying Suho or something for liking Sien’s friends in Season 2. Season 1 was so heavy and intense, and Suho felt untouchable in that way. But as the episodes went on, you really start to see how genuinely good they are (Baku, Gotak, and Juntae ) and their friendship felt like a breath of fresh air after all the pain. But yeah… Suho will always be my favorite. No one hits like him and I looooooove him.. Still, these Season 2 boys really made their own special place in my heart. 🫶

i love how you're already seeing the 'main story' vibes of this season compared to season 1. you described all my emotions of the first three episodes of season 2 so well–season 1 had such an impact and you can't help but feel guilty getting attached to these new characters. carter, i think you're right about si-eun approaching this new dynamic tentatively probably due to guilt; but i also think si-eun is just scared that HE'S the problem. that if he gets too close to anyone, he'll end up inevitably causing harm to them. my guy needs all the hugs and i love these three for him; baku, gotak and juntae for the win!!!!!

28:11 he created a bottleneck so no one could come at him from behind. Baekjin is one of my favorite characters, he has, IMO, the coolest fighting style. Also, he's the dude with the tattoos at the end of s1, in the end production decided not to give him his manhwa tats because I guess it wasn't realistic for a high schooler at a good school to have that many tats, especially so visible like in hands, neck, and some on his face. I rewatched his fight part thrice with you guys LOL it's just so good.

I love how Sieun's broken heart is starting to heal with the aid of his new found friendship with Baku, Gotak, and Juntae. My poor boy has has had too much trauma, he desperately deserves some happiness and peace. The gang is so funny and incredibly wholesome... Their little bickering and jokes make an interesting dynamic to the show. Seeing Sieun smile more heals my heart as well. It's beautiful. Can't wait for episode 4!

They finally saw the power of Baekjin's fighting, I can die happy now. He plays the mysterious villain/union leader so well. Haha, he is like the shadow leader, so epic. Props to the actor! I'm so drawn to his scenes.... Sorry I keep saying this but his presence is dark and magnetic. His fight style is definitely my favorite, that demon aura on lock. Love that scene so much!!
