Wow

.The. .Last. .Of. .Us. 2x6

Comments

Man this was one of the roughest things I've watched in a while

Sweede TW

please play and upload both game playthroughs. the games are amazing and you get to know the characters so much better.

Moonpowpow

Thank you! Wow right in the feels Joel, nice. :'(

jrnoodles

Wait... I was just rewatching this episode and Jack might be right...When Joel sent Tommy to his room the kitchen was on his left and the window was straight ahead from Tommy's perspective. Then the dad came through the front door and from him the kitchen/fridge was in front of him. After the "talk", the dad went to the direction which the windows are straight ahead and the kitchen was on his left...wait a sec.

DAI

Also Joel’s watch is the watch his dad was wearing in the beginning scene 💀

tomlette

Are you telling me the last exchange between Joel and Tommy was “see you next year” ?!😭💔 seeing joel try so hard to show love to Ellie and cling to their connection as it fell apart over the years?! that porch scene?! this episode destroyed me.

tomlette

true but the game is so fun idk if I can wait that long 😭

a_daichi

oh 😢

a_daichi

I just watched this episode and I am in literal shambles.

Lydia

I haven’t seen those comments yet but that’s madness

Nivek

Pedro is fucking carry this shit like fucking Atlas on my entire soul.

Nivek

I love this show so much, didn’t play any games, just knew about Joel. But man some of the shit Ellie does really is cringey. I feel like I have to play the games to know if it was this…awkward I guess 🤷🏽‍♂️ Edit: this doesn’t apply to this porch scene holy fuck

Nivek

Ain’t no way bro…

Nivek

This is why I don’t want you to play the game till after the shows done lol, people watch that and are still complaining… not having that in the reactions is nice

Frosty

You guys have to play the game if you loved this episode. Majority of this episode is straight from the game, it’s incredible 👏🏼

Pats

Oh my gosh, I just realized, Joel was so determined about getting Ellie a cake every year because he forgot to get one in the first episode with his daughter 😭

ShadowCat

This show is really good when the vocal minority isn't in your ear telling you it's shit.

MercerTSG

I was starting to worry that this show died when Joel died, but ep 5 was alright and this episode was great. This episode actually felt like an hbo production where as ep 3 and 4 felt almost Disney at moments and there seemed to be a steep drop off in writing and production quality. I’m glad we finally got the flashbacks of their time together, it was very emotional. I haven’t played the games so I have no clue what will happen next, I’m a little worried about the quality of the rest of the season. Season 1 was incredible and I hope I’m not disappointed.

Jmann

This might be the only episode so far this season I’ve liked more than the game. The tie in from Joel and his dad to Joel and Ellie was so damn heartbreaking. Definitely one of the few episodes of anything I’ve watched that’s going to stick in my head for years to come.

Max Radabaugh

I loved the game and I was also taken aback when they showed that so early but I feel like they are cooking something else for the show. Let’s trust the process.

Roan Gomez

Church! I was too tired to change lol

Cannon Andrus

The "peak" scene as you guys have described it is tied to the most critical moment in Ellie's character development in the video game version. This scene being shown SO EARLY in the tv show instead at the moment where it is shown in the game will completely break the most important character moment for Ellie where she has THE biggest conflict within herself, which THIS pivotal scene completely and beautifully resolves. It is THE REASON for the resolution of the whole story. THAT SCENE is THAT important. And in the tv show they decided to reveal it in the middle of the story LMAO?! That scene in the game AND in the overall narrative serves as something that perfectly summarizes the WHOLE point of the entirety of the story, ONLY if it is shown AT THAT very moment in the story in the game, AFTER Ellie has gone through everything in the whole story. After every bad decision she made and after everything went from bad to worse, and to such horrible lows... at her very bottom she remembers THIS scene with Joel and she remembers his eyes... and for us the audience the scene is also a reveal that they DID actually talk and have some forgiveness and some closure before he died... so ONLY then does the WHOLE story, and the WHOLE struggle that Ellie, and WE the audience went through will truly make sense and then you can understand WHY everything that Ellie went through to take revenge wasn't what she needed... So, if you haven't played the game and you don't have the context of all the events that take place, there is no way you can understand how THAT scene CANNOT take place before the time it is shown in the game, or else it doesn't really serve the purpose that NARRATIVELY it is supposed to... the only purpose it served in the TV SHOW, was to give the viewers some relief and to show that Ellie and Joel DID have some closure... but that isn't the full story of the show, or the story of The Last of Us. The tv show version of the story or the characters cannot really hold a candle to the game version.

Mysterious Figure

Damn, that episode was heartbreaking. Im glad they didnt show any parts of Joel's death again. But now that I know him and Ellie were on the mend, him lifting his head, trying to get up when she's yelling at him in those final moments, makes my heart hurt even more. Because he'd do anything to earn that forgiveness back 😭

ShadowCat

Cannon, why are you all dressed up? You can't just show up looking that fine but then zero explanation. Come on... 👀

Mysterious Figure

This episode has been the most game accurate by far, hence the much better writing (no offense to the show lolol). The games just have my heart, but Pedro did outstanding as Joel sooo emotional through this whole episode 💔

Olivia

Okay so the scenes that are directly from the game is the spaceship scene which is almost a copy from the game 😭 the whole dinosaur + museum scene was from the game as well + the last porch scene and joel singing future days

Jessica

Yessir

Ron Jackson Jr

last of us cool af, but pls, this aot drop, us uk lot need it now ;()

Jenu

A....O... PEAK KUDASAIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

Yanis Panagaris

I’m so positive they’re gonna end it on thaaaat scene… and the reactions will be interesting 🤐

Jessica

Also lalo 👀 Tony dalton being Joel’s dad was brilliant

Jessica

Having Neil direct this episode was so perfect. It was so beautiful, all the scenes from the game and the fillers were aaaaamazing. Didn’t expect the last scene so early but man that was probably the best scene….give an Emmy to both of them now!!! Gonna miss Pedro and Joel 💔

Jessica

Oscar level really ? The bar is incredbily low holy

Crogadile

The incoming AOT drop about to be generational, can’t wait

Jude Rahim

Pedro the man that you are

Seth Aasland

You can notice Neil Druckmann, such a good director

Mufufu

It is so weird to think of the characters Pedro has been playing, and how he is a Father figure (The Mandolorian and Joel) when in reality he is not (that I know of) and looks goofy AF in interviews. He is truly a great actor haha

Sari-chan

I love a dinosaur rant! My eyes are puffy but I learned something today!

Sari-chan

I did not know there was a controversy around the second game. My husband is a HUGE fan of the game AND the show, and really appreciates the liberty they took on the show to develop some characters and create some others. It makes sense because in games beside the MC everyone else feel like a NPC, but in a show it serves the story to build up more fleshed out characters around the MCs and bring more depth and weigh to the main storyline. Also, totally watched the show prior to coming here, but had to see you guys shed a tear haha. I laugh but I am actually so devastated AGAIN

Sari-chan

😊

Mugiwara Cannon

I appreciate you

Mugiwara Cannon

With the number of girls I've seen glaze him (valid tho) and some of the questionable comments that I've seen elsewhere, I don't know how bro struggles to get a girlfriend. Does he have a million checkboxes or something lol?

TheSauceGuy

Cannon looking dang good

vicc

It was a really great episode. Even though I haven't been enjoying Bella's performance overall, she nailed it in that final scene with Joel. But as much as I really liked this episode, there's only one left until the end of the season 😢 maybe they could've balanced the past and present better too.

vicc

Yea Eugene is a big improvement than in the game

NMP

She’s only 19 in the game, to be fair. One could argue she seems a little too old in the game but way too young in the show

NMP

They did a good job but I just find it so frustrating they did it here because it’s such a beautiful and heart breaking gut punch at the end of the game. It hits so much harder when you see it happen at Ellie’s absolute lowest. It doesn’t feel “earned” to do it now when she’s killed like one person and is just starting to actually go off the deep end and lose herself in revenge.

NMP

If next episode is what I think it is, it'll be very interesting.

TheSauceGuy

Oh wow, Neil Druckmann directed this episode. He was the creative director and co-writer for the second game.

TheSauceGuy

Glad I haven’t watched S2 of this show 😁 cheeeks

MateoP

They had that dialogue between Joel and Ellie this early? That's actually quite a big change, but not necessarily a bad one. It can go either way, but I prefer where they put it in the game. I like the addition of the "I hope you do a little better than me" line.

TheSauceGuy

It's an average show at best. Ellie and Dina having their best time of their lifes, laughing at each other and being all goofy in such a dangerous world with zombies and bandits could be anywhere, like not a care in the world. Story changes a bit here and there from the game. So far Dina is the one carrying the show, she is being a better Ellie then the actual Ellie lol. Ellie looks the exact same as she did in first season, Huge misscast of her even from season 1. Her acting was fine in GOT but not here i would say. She acts all the time like a teenager when she is supposed to be in her twentis and it's not belivable at all that she can take down full grown men at all in close combat.

Nasty

well that something else is the main source. It's just like Tokyo Ghoul anime changing scenes from the manga. Not saying it's the same as that but it's similar in that sense as to why people aren't happy about it. Not to mention certain scenes are not done as well compared to the game.

Ninjinzo

a cutie

Jessica

Eugene is an entirely different character in the game, and I don't think you ever even see him, let alone hear about him much. We learn he died from a stroke at 73 and was once a Firefly, but that's about it from the game itself, IIRC. I somewhat like the change in the show as it gives him more purpose.

TheSauceGuy

Cannon in this episode distractes me so hard...

Ksenia Rekun

Minor dinosaur nerd rant incoming, you have been warned. Dinosaurs are interesting because almost everyone refers to them by their genus name, rather than their species. With Tyrannosaurus rex, most people abbreviate the Tyrannosaurus to get T. rex. Some other well-known dinosaurs would look like this if we used the same method here: S. aegyptiacus (Spinosaurus), T. horridus (Triceratops), and S. Stenops (Stegosaurus). I imagine this had to do with Jurassic Park (and media in general) finding T. rex sounded cooler, so they stuck with it.

TheSauceGuy

I mean u can’t tell me Abby’s physique which literally cannot be maintained without steroids isn’t weird or off putting, especially in a post apocalyptic environment.

Mitch

That episode was so good! Best scene of the year! Oscar lvl shit

Anton Sakshaug (Jancked)

Cannon looks so good ~`,、('∀`) '`,、

Reileen

it’s very refreshing to watch you guys watch the show having not played the game first. 95% of the people who have criticisms of the show only have them because they’re comparing it to something else. like no shit if you compare every tiny detail to the game, you’re gonna find that parts might be missing, but if you look at the show as a separate entity, it really is great. it’s an adaptation… it was never gonna be bar for bar. adaptations usually never are! coming from someone who has played tlou2 13 times, i obviously have my criticisms but i only have them because i’m comparing elements i dislike about the show to a game i love so much.

leah

Cannon lookin fresh!

Anton Sakshaug (Jancked)

That’s a fair point but I think most people who hated the game were more invested in Joel as the main character. Understandable since we all played as him for about 85% of Part I. The people who loved Part II — myself included — are more interested in a good story (on top of good gameplay, of course), regardless of who the playable characters are.

Roan Gomez

I wish you guys would watch adolescence on Netflix!! I feel like you would enjoy it a lot and appreciate it. ( I thought abt it when they mentioned generational trauma)

Sarah Rosa

Speak on it!!!!

Sarah Rosa

Hot take, but IMO most people who hate on the second game are psychopaths who lack empathy. I Liked the scene after the dance here more than the game, as you can see all the emotions on their faces, top tier acting.

Alannah Caldwell

I loved the game. I loved this episode but TBH, I still find the game to be so much better as you can really feel Ellie’s resentments, joy, grief and regrets. It was a wild ride of emotions. To each their own though. The acting in this episode is top notch. The game was so divisive to the point that two subreddits exist - one that’s predominantly haters and another one for those who believe it’s a masterpiece. I think it’s a masterpiece but I’m not gonna trigger anyone by saying more. I’ve had my fair share of debates with other gamers about it for the last 5 years.

Roan Gomez

It was new years

Alan

Also I love the game personally and agree with Carter but u gotta remember the game was leaked months in advance. People saw entire cutscenes out of context. And there’s a lot of “those” people who got angry that their epic manly gaming hero gets murdered by a buff woman and turned it into some “woke” political thing. It had been 7 years since the first game came out so a lot of people spent forever living in this world where the first story was perfect and untouchable and where Joel and Ellie lived happily ever after. Also a big reason why the game was divisive you won’t see until season 3 starts which is something where again I love what they ended up doing there but I can understand why people were so angry and resistant to it at the time.

NMP

It so funny people who haven't played the games reaction to the show. It's basically like how the people reacted to when the 2nd game 1st came out. People really only liking the Joel flashbacks. But yes that "powerful" scene was at the end of the game which is so weird for them to put it here because without giving spoilers, it was so much more powerful at the end. For people who played the game this episode is just going to be full of people saying "what are the writers or Neil Druckmann doing".

Grimm

And jack you were right at the beginning don’t let them gaslight you 😂

Alan

i'm okay with moving the scene - in the games, it's the best where it is and obviously, the game is better but in the show, im okay with it. Obviously, it's not as effective putting it here and I don't know how ending is gonna work but I'm just accepting it lol EDIT: I thought about it more and now i'm more conflicted lol but im not gonna lie, i have lower standards for the show and they've already changed a lot so im gonna accept it - i just hope the ending doesnt fall flat

becca

Okay Cannon! You dapper lad you

Alan

Best episode of the season!! I love my man Joel, the dad we all need. Pedro and Bella had me crying there so I loved it. Also whoever played Eugene was really good at being vulnerable, just made me feel so bad for the guy. I think the only thing for me is that because they showed ellie and joel starting to reconcile, the night before Joel abruptly died, I wish they showed Ellie having more drive, frustration, and anger after his death and during this whole journey

becca

This was the best episode in a while and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that it’s the first one of the season written by Neil Druckman (guy who made the games). However, and I really hate to be the guy keep harping on the game being better, but I just don’t understand a lot of the decisions they’re making in terms of moving stuff around. There’s a scene here that isn’t supposed to be seen until the very end of the game. You spend the entire time thinking they ended off on a bad note and you don’t see that she was actually willing to start to forgive him until the very end, after she’s hit rock bottom and gone further, because trust me things get a lot worse and a lot more brutal for her, and then when she’s at her absolute lowest she remembers that night on the porch and you realize why she can’t let go, but also it’s a kind of a bittersweet ending because it suggests maybe one day she’ll be able to move on… Like they did the scene great but I just don’t know why they would blow their load on it this early when it feels like Ellie has barely just started dipping her toes into revenge and losing herself.

NMP

Average obito fan has taste

Andrew

The "See you next year" was a dad joke? I didn't get it.

DAI

How is this episodes plot worse than the game it pushes the same point in a concise manner to fit one episode I just can’t understand the reasons people are annoyed at this show it’s just not that big of a deal to ruin the show

Milan Jovanovic

SPOILER ALERT People don't hate that Joel dies in the game, they hate how they have to play as the character who killed him for like 10 hours after while they are trying to make you sympathize with them when it's almost impossible to do knowing they killed your favourite character, wherever justified or not.

Sirius689

I don't speak English that well so I am clueless here but I still am amazed how Bella speaks "perfect" American English. Is it easy for you to switch accents like this? I've seen lots of actors who were so bad at imitating accents so I always thought it's hard.

DAI

Alright finnaly got back to home and watched this ep. This might be controversial but I like this episode the best in S2. I kow this isn't how the game went because she didn't go back to the hospital but I like this a lot.

DAI

I've been trying so hard to separate my experience with the game from my experience with the show. I can imagine how amazing this episode might have been for those who have never played it. For me, it was great, but everything about it still felt so much weaker than the game and it's all because of the changes that I just can't understand the need for. Also, I'm cool with the structure, but not the substance used to get to that porch scene.

Lexi Browning

Brig would’ve been hype to see the goat Lalo

1999

Really good episode tho it’s annoying how they’re changing random stuff from the game, the whole Joel killing Eugene thing and joel lying to Ellie about it didn’t even exist in the game, they just invented it to make some point or whatever, there’s a buncha other things that they keep changing too which is annoying, what makes it worse is that in s1 they followed the game pretty one to one but in s2 now they decided to make more changes, changes that aren’t improvements to the story but the opposite

Slizzle

We dont want that mid around here

Conk

Outside

Conk

So guys….did Joel’s dad walk back out the front door or down tommys hallway😂😂

Studio Geck

Selling some dj toenail beats anyone want some. Ik u Carter want some for sure

Ron Jackson Jr

Fuck me I haven’t watched the episode yet but I know I’m gonna be bawling 😭😭😭

Jessica

people tend to hate the game MAINLY because of joel dying. there’s definitely other things people complain about that i can’t say because of spoilers but that is the main reason. i will also say, i fear this episode is going to be hated by MANY game fans simply because in the structure of the game, that last conversation between ellie and joel is placed at a VERY different point in the game. and it does make sense where the game has it, but i also think it makes sense that the show it giving it to us this early. coming from someone who has over 500 hours in tlou2, i absolutely loved this episode. there were quite a few additions in dialogue that weren’t in the game and ALL of them were great. and then the moments that were in the game were nearly bar for bar in the show. i’m so glad you guys loved this episode because ive already seen some losers online trashing it. for me personally, it’s a 9.5/10

leah

Tbf I can see what people are saying about season 2 but this episode I can’t see it happening

Andrew

wow indeed, imagine thinking this show is bad. Can't wait to see y'all play the game too

Kite

Did yall see that Joel got his dads watch that’s new to me

Spideycain

they haven’t said when yet

a_daichi

I'm glad Carter is sticking up for Joel's death. It was necessary for the story to progress.

Jesse Herrera

I don't know how long it's been since I cried like that for a show. That scene between them was so well done.

Jude

Remind me when will the boys try play the game?

theprolificpotato

that final conversation had me UGLY CRYING INTO MY CAT. then sobbed again watching this reaction. need to go to bed im wrecked.

Sissy Six

This episode isn’t good, Cannon. It’s actually great. IMO. Coming from someone who doesn’t really love this series. But this is what I needed from this show. Joel. He is the heart of it. Whether he’s breaking ours into pieces or trying to put the pieces back together again.

GreetswithJudgement

I think its important to note that yes, The Last of Us Part 2 was divise when it came out for a multitude of reasons, many of those reasons lessened my faith in alot of the gaming community, but the game is still held in high regards by much of the fanbase, sold very well, was one of the highest rated games of that year, and won tons of game of the year awards from outlets. Much of what you're seeing is pulled directly from the game even some moments like that final porch scene is line for line pulled directly from the game. Despite little tweaks here and there to adapt to a different medium, I still think this goes to show just how well the second games writing still holds up.

Sinbad

Why wouldn’t she want to try to forgive him? Even though she’s angry with him and knows he has been lying about something, she still loves him. It’s a very frustrating thing to go through but the love is still there

a_daichi

I just finished the episode on my own and WOW. Exceeded my expectations honestly. The last conversation with Ellie and Joel… I did not think we’d get a longer version and man did it hurt all while being beautiful. The acting was phenomenal. Might be my favorite episode so far!

a_daichi

Man, this was probably my favorite episode of the entire show. And to what you guys were talking about on what people would rate it on IMDB at the end there. If the episode was fantastic or just decent it's going to get review bombed regardless from people who already made up their mind on how they feel about The Last of Us part 2. So, for this season in particular I wouldn't pay too much attention to what the ratings are since the story that's being adapted is so divisive amongst the fans.

Prince

My second favorite episode of the whole show. This is what I like. Damn, just looking at him this episode makes me so sad. He’s lonely. He’s purposeless. He just tries his best or think he’s doing his best and nothing is right by anyone. He’s a lose lose character. Such a good contrast to the opening scene with him and his father. It feels like he doesn’t want to become him so he instead becomes passive. Still team, Joel. But I need more Tommy pretty soon.

GreetswithJudgement

As good as the acting is in this show, I just can't get behind some of the thought process for the writing. The substance behind the characters' motives and actions is lacking so much. Ellie holding a grudge against Joel for 9 months because she watched him lie to someone like he did to her does not hit like Ellie holding a grudge against Joel for 2 years after Joel tells her the truth about what happened in Salt Lake (while they're standing in Salt Lake in the remnants of what Joel did). Also, when he reveals it in the show, she wants to try and forgive him 15 seconds later??? The entire game is revolved around us thinking Joel died unforgiven with a broken heart until we see the porch scene in the very last scene of the game. I understand the show has to change things, but changing the foundation is just wacky

Lexi Browning

at one point ellie did say she talked to joel after (i think it was to jessie or dina earlier on? cant remember) but it wasnt expanded upon, so it was hinted at but easy enough to forget their potential reconciliation - also cuz she sarcastically lied to gail in the hospital lol

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨

That was an effing good episode. Holding back my tears for real for real 🥺

Melizé

Wow, that was incredible. I teared up. The acting this episode took the story to a whole new level. I'd do it all again.

TheBookerDeWitt

that very last 'then i hope you do a little better than me' just punch me y dont u

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨

This is really peak. I’m curious how you’ll react to the game, because a lot of people are hating on the show. I personally love both, so im hoping yall enjoy the game as well

JoLen

Jack either cooks so hard or not at all 😂 there’s no in between and it’s always so funny, especially since it’s always him against the rest. He stands his ground the way young Joel stood his ground against his father just now. Never stop being you, Jack!

GreetswithJudgement

It's good that they put that conversation in the middle of the season, in the game that scene was at the end of the game, or near the end. Also, people dislike the game because the sequencing was a bit... like they would make you play as Abby with barely a backstory for her after she kills Joel.

Judy

what are the changes you considered bad?

Arkani

I made a comment about it

Conk

Look at me! I’m on a motherfuckin’ dinosaur!

a_daichi

LALO!?

TheSauceGuy

Am I the only one who saw Cannon's fit and immediately thought of Denji from CSM?

TheSauceGuy

Best acting that we’ve seen of the year imo

Mugiwara Cannon

When you talk about playing the games, what time frame does "ASAP" entail lol?

TheSauceGuy

The show is certainly different, but still good. When you begin to compare them, I feel the show pales in comparison to the games, at least in certain areas. I think some aspects of the show are arguably better though, like the additional background of the Seraphites and WLF.

TheSauceGuy

i mentioned this either last week or the week before but you really wont understand why the game and now the show specifically this season had the fanbase so divided until you guys go through the games yourself and see the all the changes theyve made. they have made quite alot of changes (Some good but others really bad IMO) to the point that the game and the show are damn near two different stories atp

Philbo

As someone who absolutely adores both games, I think the show has been amazing so far, S1 and S2.

TheBookerDeWitt

so quick omg!!! best episode that covers some of the best moments in the game. the porch scene was PERFECT

leah

Cannon doing Denji cosplay?? Just need a wig

Conk

Id be so down to see yall play the games!!🔥

Cynicwound223

the little 'ok' and following discussion - joels mannerisms r so much like his fathers

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨

Cannon is that meme of the kid wearing PJs vs a suit for what he cares about and of course it’s for a Joel episode hahah

Neemz

cannon attended church today lmao

Cooper Anderson

A book just fell on my head. I only have my shelf to blame

Yoshi

He left the channel

Studio Geck

i cant watch it now cuz im still at work but I KNOW this is a big lore episode! I wanna watch it too :(
