on my part i think you guys praise fish man island more than it deserves in my opinion xD i am a one piece fan for over 20 years now and i love it to death and theres nothing wrong with disliking some parts and also theres nothing wrong with you liking parts that i dont like .. the people that are complaining are always the loudest and the perople that love everything or are akin to your opinion often dont leave a comment ^^ so dont worry - everything is alright <3

Hordy is the embodiment racism. I have to say Oda just got back on long hiatus before time skip so I think this is one of the weakest arc on OP besides the cool power up moments of the straw hats

"through the stomach as a tribute?" that level of dark humor makes me sure Ange and I would be homies if we ever meet hahaha

I have nothing much to say, but I feel the urge to tell you that I really really love your reactions. Not only One Piece but all of your videos. You are my safe space when I just want to have a good time. By the way, I love One Piece (more the Manga than the Anime though) and I think Oda is a genius in world building and "message delivery", but of course he and his work have also big flaws that cannot be overlooked. Everyone has the right to criticise that without being hated. If someone loves One Piece unconditionally to the core, that is absolutely fine. But you can also love something and recognize as well as accept the bad sides of it. At least, in the end... I had something to say. :D

Unfortunately outside of the main character of the Straw Hat, they kinda get neglected for the worldbuilding which is prob Oda biggest flaw. He made a big cast and didn't realize how hard it to juggle it while also making Straw hat have engaging story lines.I think Chopper is the biggest loser of the Timeskip. Since his story is basically complete or his goal/job is very hard to spontaneously be useful in the story without it being convoluted. I think it's easy to include Nami's navigation, Sanji's cooking, Zoro's swordskill, Franky's shipbuilding, even Usopp's sniping. I think Oda realizing there is too many straw hat kinda subconsiously demote some of the straw hat as Main characters to leave more screentime for the world-building and story, like Otohime, Princes, Shirahoshi. Not trying to be rude, but I think its fair to say Chopper and the less important straw hat are no longer "main cast". I think its to best think of Straw Hat as an ensemble where they are here for most arcs, but they will go couples stretch part of an arc or even multiple arcs without a big moment. My best example is Z-Fighters. Vegeta and Goku are the now the main cast, Piccolo and co are ensemble. I think this next few arcs are a messy transition from Oda to kinda shift the dynamic of crew. I think its fair to criticize Oda for not utilizing the other Straw Hats better.

It would be cool if you have a most wanted each arc, also could do unique crews for each arc. While still having the persistent ones since they don't change that often

I love One Piece but it isn't perfect, and the anime turns certain nitpicks into full blown issues. There was a certain point where I switched to manga only due to pacing but I've been enjoying re-watching it with you guys. Going into it knowing how these episodes play out lets me appreciate the ride a bit more, focus on things I missed before or things you guys point out. The messaging in this arc definitely resonates more with me now, likely due to the things going on in the US and/or being a parent. I love Otohime so much more in this watch through and I think Shirahoshi is my #1 non flashback character (I absolutely love Noland/Kalgara's story). At some point I'm going to have to read through the manga again because it's such a phenomenal story.

Could not disagree harder, I prefer it and think post-timeskip is better. I would strongly suggest to not try and influence other people's feelings by saying things like this. It was hearing things like this over and over again that almost made me want to drop the show because "why bother if people keep telling me it's worse?" only for me to realize as I kept going that I disagreed with the sentiment wholeheartedly and had no idea why people thought this (other than just being mad at the pacing). Please ignore comments like this/try not to let them influence your feelings beforehand and form your own opinion.

It's crazy how little screentime and impact Jimbei has in this arc despite being the strongest character on the island by FAAARR! It sucks how it's always Luffy who has to fight the main antagonist every arc.

Unfortunately, post-timeskip doesn't hold up as well as pre-timeskip.

People say that this arc has pacing issues, and I agree. But let's be real... AAAALLLL Arcs in One Piece (including pre time skip) have pacing issues, it's just that some have it more than others. Did we need that much Buggy at Summit War? Did we need that long fight with Moria at Thriller Bark? Did we need the giraffe vs. wolf dispute at Ennis lobby? The list goes on... No story in the history of mankind actually requires more than 1000 episodes đŸ€Ł. I love One Piece, it is enjoyable to watch, but it is actually very stretchy and much longer than it should be, and it's not all on Toei, Oda is to blame as well. The entire story with all details, emotions, character development, and overall enjoyment, can be done in 400 episodes MAX, if we remove all the looong still face moments, unnecessary intros/recaps, exaggerated repetitiveness of the jokes, cheesy lines, weird annoying characters, etc. Modern shounen anime make a better job in this aspect, because they understand that people no longer want to watch very long shows. Only one semi-slow episode can generate a lot of criticism from weekly viewers. You guys can't even imagine how hard it was to watch One Piece weekly especially post time skip đŸ€Ł. Fish man island lasted more than a year ! I dropped the show many years ago and now I'm finally rewatching it with you guys. Although many people love One Piece including myself, many weekly fans end up dropping the show at some point. But I can understand the decision of Oda/Toei, in the end, it's a business. Why stop stretching if people will pay to watch anyway?
