i agree people just like to hate on everything i think this show has no lows

@Jay rellim, yes they should. Currently they know the extent of what is possible with Ashido's quirk. They train and develop their quirks in more controlled settings than this battle royale style exam setting. Think about the training sessions where Deku learnt shoot style and Bakugo learnt ap shot. They weren't fighting someone, they were consciously working on their quirks against inanimate concrete. If Ashido's quirk suddenly started showing properties they had never seen before in the middle of an exam battle, they absolutely should stop the battle to understand what is going on. At the very least to make sure she is doing okay. The vast majority of people in this world manifest their quirks early in life and they have a good understanding of the capabilities of the quirk by the time they would enroll in an institution like UA. The teachers definitely keep tabs on the students' abilities, as well as the hero association who issue licenses. This incident was very out of character for the world building as a whole.

second half of s5 almost made me quit the show :D

all might IS past 50 lmao

second half of s5 is one of my favorite parts of the show

lolll

nah the aizawa comment is too cautious imo. you mean to tell me anytime someone's quirk evolves they need to do extensive isolated testing to ensure it didnt accidentally mutate into something with extreme properties??? esp bc there are clearly ppl whose quirks more easily lend itself to that scenario, but they train like normal. e.g they let ashido train w her acid - but what if it suddenly gets stronger and now everyone in a 30ft radius gets slowly poisoned without knowing? aizawa observed, recognized "ok my quirk can actually shut this thing off" then adapted to let the fight go on but be ready to shut it off. you cant deal w too many extreme hypotheticals

i have a soft spot for this arc, i really enjoyed getting to see 1B fight, and i feel like in a show with SO many different and unique superpowers, its just fun to throw together some characters and see what you can think up in terms of how a battle between them would go down :D

storm (kasey) !

I find it ironic and hilarious that ange doesn't like the loud trash talker 😂

Night Sterling

Ponytail Aizawa for mvp i agree 😆 jk aside I think its between Uraraka and Deku and I think Uraraka takes it. Like if were tallying up feats, deku has the plan and takes down shinso. Uraraka helped take down shinso by making deku weightless, she took down Monoma, made the important decision to stick by dekus plan and help mina and mineta, she took down poltergeist which helped Mina take down the last dude so yea I think the MVP is clear hehe also as a member of the Monoma fan club I'm obliged to hype him up a bit. Its been shown pretty clearly here and during the sports fest that Monoma has pretty great battle IQ and great versatility. The fact that he knows how to use quirks effectively even though its the first time he's had it (bakugo, kiri quirks) versus ppl that had their whole lives to train with it shows that he's just HIM 🤣 if I was that good I'd be insufferable too (jk jk im bias haha) glad you like his characterization tho! You absolutely aren't obliged to like any characters whatsoever but if you mischaracterize or just plain not understand a characters motivations when its laid down pretty clearly ofc some people will have some words lol (this is just a general statement not aimed at carlie ang ange specifically) again its all chill its just a show and hope yall never censor your opinions we love some toxic ange always hehe 😝

Shinso is the 🐐

I CANT WAIT for you guys to react to the next seasons!

Congratulations on "getting through" what people consider to be the worst part of the show for some reason. I felt pretty confident you wouldn't dislike it, and I am feeling equally confident that your interest in the focused characters and the world of quirks will be piqued in the rest of the season as well.

Krokus

Honestly, season 5 is my favorite. Personal screentime only being one of the reasons. I'm weird like that.

Natsuo Todoroki

Season 5 isn't as bad as people said it was I liked season 5 but it wasn't my favorite but season 7 is my favorite season ❤️

Maya Coleman

I am one of the people who don't rate season 5 as highly as the others and this arc is the reason why. I will admit it was more fun rewatching the arc with you guys because your reactions made it more entertaining. I found watching it as it released week to week more boring. I will say the next couple of arcs in this season are some of the best writing in the series and I think you guys will thoroughly enjoy them. I will go over my major criticism of this arc. I understand it might be unpopular. This was basically Deku's big power up moment, but I don't think it had much emotional impact. It's done in a very information packed exposition heavy sort of way. Compare it to something like Goku's super saiyan transformation, one of the most iconic moments in anime. Or think about the time in Hunter x Hunter Kurapika reveals he is a specialist in his fight against Uvogin. Those episodes and arcs give me chills. One for All is also kind of like the Avatar State, so think about the first time Roku takes over Aang and lavabends. By comparison, Deku's powerup moment feels very meh. I also have the small criticism that Iida felt like he didn't get to do much after being sidelined for so long. Kirishima also got shafted. Finally, and this might piss off Carlie 😬, but I think Aizawa did a bad job letting the fight go on this episode. None of the teachers have any idea what just happened with Deku or what that black stuff is. This is a world where all sorts of quirks are possible. It might have properties like Overhauls quirk where it disintegrates anything it touches. It could spread microscopic poisonous spores that they don't have an antidote for. It could destroy someone's quirk gene permanently like the bullets made from Eri's quirk. And all of these things could have been slow acting which meant just 3 minutes of observation wouldn't tell them the whole story. The teachers really shouldn't have let the fight continue without knowing what exactly was up with this new quirk Deku just manifested. And since Aizawa made the call to continue the battle, unfortunately the blame is on him. It's also really uncharacteristic of Aizawa, he is usually more cautious. I will end on a positive note by saying the coming arcs are going to be great, but I can't say anymroe because spoilers.

Cant wait to see yall react to Season 6 and 7, my favorite seasons by far

Novel Hossain

Season 5 isn’t bad but most fans do agree it is the weakest of all 7 current seasons. Mostly because this training arc could have been 7-8ep but they made it longer. Also a certain arc at the end of this season is regarded by many as the best arc of the entire manga and it was given less TLC than this training arc (a questionable decision)…on top of them cutting content from the manga for that arc. Also the timeline of events in Season5 was executed differently in the anime than manga leading to some confusion when it released for die hard fans and casual fans alike. Still a good season but not great…Bones made up for this in Season 6 but especially Season 7 (my favorite). S8 the final season comes out in October!

I’d love for you guys to watch the My Hero Academia OVA All Might: Rising! It shows his backstory with his master and Gran Torino, and it’s only a few minutes long. Really good stuff!

This arc is definitely necessary for world building going into the upcoming arcs/seasons imo. A LOT of the characters introduced here play small to significant roles in the story onwards and I think that having been introduced to them and some other concepts here now (like OFA growing and Deku having multiple quirks) allows the pacing of the story later to maintain momentum when it’s most important. I personally also think it’s nice to see something from normal school life!

Tyler Owens

Definitely Uraraka she beat 3 characters and helped with beating 1

Abdulrahman Mahdi

I'm assuming Monoma copied the OGs quirk which was stockpile, and that's why he couldn't use it. If he did copy Deku or blackwhip, I'm not sure his body would be able to handle that. Monoma is a great character, both teams did great 🤘

Kenneth T

Deku's the MVP for me for this episode. Uraraka comes a close second so I'm fine with her getting it too ngl, but to me it's Deku. Like you said, it was his plan that Uraraka followed and it was his conviction that made her stick to it despite wanting to go assist him after hearing Monoma talk. Also, props to Deku for overcoming that which he'd been struggling with just moments ago and making Blackwhip work FOR him rather than against, even if it was for a few seconds. His mental fortitude is incredible, and sometimes gets overlooked because he makes it look like it's easy work for him to figure out a quirk power that he literally just discovered and had difficulty controlling. Plus by going after Shinso and keeping him away from the others he was able to avoid any of his teammates from getting brainwashed during the chaos.

Meg

I think an argument could be made for Aizawa for MVP in this episode actually. Half of the episode is about going over the match results, and while a lot of the aspiring heroes are second guessing their actions throughout the last several episodes, Aizawa is there reminding them of how much they've improved/matured and affirming them of their actions (most specifically Uraraka and Shinso). Just being a great teacher is still MVP-worthy in teach-heavy episodes, imo.

Eric H

Carlie: Deku's awesome Me, proud mom mode activated: yes, yes he is!! I absolutely love the OST that plays when Deku uses Blackwhip. One of my top faves out of the series for sure. I don't care what people say about seasons 4 and 5, I love both seasons for a lot of things but especially for the OFA lore, the whole Overhaul arc and especially because we get Dadzawa! xD

Meg

Season 5 isn't shit, but it feels like a transitional season, as the rest of the show's tone changes a lot, and the story accelerates.

ponytail Aizawa for mvp ❤️😂
