For me I feel as though Usopp equates himself with the ship and that if ship isn’t strong enough to continue he feels as though he can’t either and Luffy probably had a feeling which is why he said that ships aren’t the same as humans which Usopp denied. That’s why for Usopp to get over it I feel like he needs to regain the confidence he’s lost
