2025-01-23 23:45:06 +0000 UTCI think if you're gonna introduce a group that's been around almost as long as the white lotus you have to to at least give one or 2 known members to give it credibility and honestly since unalaaq's whole thing was true balance it's not too far fetched. Also i agree that zaheer killing the queen is probably the darkest scene in terms of showing actual murder. Most if not all killing has been either implied if i remember correctly.

2024-12-21 03:09:04 +0000 UTCThe Unalaq angle wasn't too bad...actually it in some ways needs to tie in with Book2. The events in Book3 can't happen if what happened in Book2 did not. Zaheer seems to be very spiritual seeing as how he can enter the spirit world without the portal. Book2 was literally called "Spirits." having Unalaq seem more spiritually rebellious than Tenzin and the White Lotus along with Zaheer and the Red Lotus can make sense. I've watched Korra and ATLA so many times now....it's funny I always pick up subtle little things with every new watch. The Misty Palms Oasis of course I knew was also in ATLA, that is in the "Library" episode where they visit in their mini vacation. the Glacier spring in the center of town. But what I didn't pick up until now is all the spirit activity there. that wouldn't have happened unless Korra had opened the portals. it could also mean(just my opinion) that the reason there is a Glacier spring in the middle of the desert that isn't melting could be spirit related....there is a strong spiritual connection here which allows Aiwe and Korra to enter the spirit world quickly and the city and surrounding area if chalked full of spirit critters.

Also for the season 2 tie in I also felt the same about wanting zaheer to be his own thing, the way I reconciled with it though is the fact that what unaloq did was not part of zaheers plans so sure they were part of the same group, they didnt really 'work together' so zaheer's gang is still a seperate entity as far as I'm concerned.

Zaheer tells Korra that the members of the Red Lotus were going to be her elemental masters - and that means they needed someone to teach her airbending. So we can assume that Zaheer basically learned all the forms and techniques of airbending long before he was actually an airbender.
