When i first watched it i was kinda like meh about it but on a rewatch it became clearer that this was more set up for things to come... that being said... where the hell is season two man its been 3 years already since s1 and i doubt s2 will release this year

Tao will be explained more in next episode, but it might've been easier to grasp if you guys had watched Naruto, since it's quite similar to how chakra works in that series. Unlike Naruto though, Hell's Paradise dives more into explaining this power, and it's quite cool how it incorporates a lot of eastern mythology and Buddhist/Taoist concepts into the world-building. Some key points in these episodes: -Senta notes that the patchwork quality of the island of taking terms and iconography from different religions and cultures reminds him of Moro Makiya (one of the prisoners who was a cult leader who tried to create a new religion in a similar way--aka the poor sap that Yuzuriha experimented on at the beginning of the seriesxD) -no need to worry about remembering the long-a** Tensen names that Hoko listed xD those are actual titles of venerated figures in Buddhism that the Tensen have adopted. Since the tree ppl worship the Tensen as gods, it makes sense they would refer to them with these titles. The Tensen's actual names that they call each other are shorter, and they're all named after flowers. -as you guys have figured out, basically all living things have Tao. How it's used for fighting will be what's explained in the next episode.

2024-08-23 02:42:53 +0000 UTCIt was explained @ around 10:00 in episode 10 that Tanden = the navel in martial arts. Should be the origin point of the regeneration. The brothers guessing the lower body or groin as the origin is a close guess, but they're not quite on the money. It's a pervasive Chinese belief and teaching that energy (and Qi) comes from the navel (or the core). That is tanden. As an example, Street Fighter 4's boss character Seth has a Yin-Yang engine at his core, referred to as a Tanden Engine... so Tao and Tanden is definitely an ancient and well-known concept re-imagined in the world of Hell's Paradise. If Ange is interested in the real life inspirations, all of these concepts come from Taoism and Buddhism, but mashed together, as Senta observed.

Also Yuzuriha = Emilia from Re:Zero. --- Episode 9 in particular reminds me of what was said in Hajime no Ippo. Blind guy talking about fighting technique, relaxing until moment of attack.

That's why I voted for it and if my one vote was one of the two that helped win it over, I'm extremely happy. A lot of people were upset because the animation quality dips at points, but this story is wild. The characters are amazing. The monsters are something out of a horror film. It's just really good. And like you said, the lore building is incredible for a shounen

Tip: There is always a twist, don't assume anything based on info you just got. Though your theories are good not precisely correct but good.

'Mean' chars like red head eyepatch guy weren't that bad. The guy was looking out for Sagiri in ep 1 cuz she often shows signs of weakness. Nice to have earlier upload this week!
