You can unpack all the symbolism stuff all you want, but even without it it's still amusing to watch. Why did Sophie fall in love with Howl all of a sudden? I'd be happy to hear all the analysis and explanation but 'Just because. She just did' is good enough for me in their fairy tale.

2024-08-18 16:23:05 +0000 UTCi feel like most ghibli films are similar in how heavily reliant they are on the nuance. in my perspective, i thought sophie's heart has always been receptive to howl; like, from the moment he first saved her and flew her in the air lol, she was enamored by him when she talked about him with her sister. after that, i figured it was just a matter of him continuing to reassure her and/or show special care for her in a way that she never received before that developed her feelings over time. but also i think it helps that sophie started as a very insecure, lonely character sooo it doesn't take much to fall for someone who's just nice to you LOL

2024-08-18 15:52:40 +0000 UTCFor Howl I GUESS it kinda made sense because heβs been looking for her ever since his childhood so you could argue that dedication didnβt take much to turn into love when he met her and interacted with her a bit. But I was really confused on her side lol. But I have heard that the book is so much better so Iβm just gonna buy it and read it.

I am still missing out on a couple Ghibli movies but of the ones I have seen my favorite is My Neighbor Totoro! I actually named my cat Totoro haha but I hope yall cover that movie as well sometime π

2024-08-18 15:45:44 +0000 UTCThe reason why we do timer reactions for movies is because the copyright is WAY more strict considering how long movies go for and how much commentary we'd be adding. In a short anime episode, we are almost talking the whole way through, so its very easy to argue that our video falls under fair use. Its not really the case with movies. However, we are going to be releasing the edited versions for the movies going forward! So not everyone needs to sync up but still gets to see our reactions to all the best parts

2024-08-18 15:40:14 +0000 UTCSo, I just watched this movie again together with you guys and even though I do really like this movie, I cannot for the life of me figure out WHERE Sophie fell in love with Howl. Even after the second time I've watched this, the first time she said she loves Howl I was literally like, WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN??? I like this movie, it's so beautiful and the music is truly peak, and even though I enjoyed the story a lot I can't help but notice so many things are missing. SO, I have finally decided to read the book because I feel like it's a story I would really love if I get the entire picture! I'm really glad you guys liked it so much! You should definitely also watch My Neighbour Totoro or even Ponyo. Those two, together with Spirited away are my favs. I think you'd like Grave of the Fireflies as well but you have to be fully prepared if you want to watch that movie.

I know you guys said that you will continue watching animated movies like Princess Mononoke and Grave of Fireflies, and I will actually highly recommend Castle in the Sky and NausicaΓ€ of the Valley of the Wind. These two Ghibli films are what made my childhood. They are like the Lion King of Disney; however more great Ghibli films I watch afterwards, they will always be my favourites. While they are both a bit older and they might not be as big in the West as Spirited Away or Howl's Moving Castle, they are the old classics that you just can't miss. Loved the reaction as always and I must say you aren't prepared for the Grave of Fireflies!!πΈπΈ
