I gave it another go, but the sound difference is so vast if I turn it down to where your audio isn't hurting my head, I can't even hear the show. what a shame I was really hoping to watch some of my comfort show with some of my favorite reactors while I recover, but unfortunately I just can't. :/

2024-07-09 15:28:36 +0000 UTCIs there anyway you can turn the volume up a little bit on the show in these edits? it's so quiet, it's not that big a deal until one of you bursts out in shock or surprise and deafens me by going super sonic over my speakers since I have to have it cracked up so high to even hear the show. I get that it's probably part of the avoiding copywrite, but if that's what you gotta do, I'd much rather a watch along format so we can choose our own volume, because sometimes it gets unwatchable since I have to turn it down during your dialog. Love the content and hope ya see this and can maybe turn it up a notch. But at how it is, I'm almost tempted to just watch the youtube cuts so I can even hear the show.

Understanding this would add a beautiful layer to your reactions and commentary in this season. I'm sure you have been told how old Azula is thousands of times by now but as you watch the rest of the season please keep in mind that Azula is only a 14 year old teenager.

They spent so much of Azula's screentime establishing that she's a genius villain that when you start book 3 all you can assume is that she's playing Zuko. Book 3 is when we start to see that she is indeed also just a kid... and might actually have her own issues. Ember Island is when they finally make it obvious.

Imagine a young teen watching this on TV after school and then you get hit with such a deep story. This was definitely more mature and far superior storywise than anything else Nickelodeon could spew out at the time. Seeing it back once more now that I'm 26 it makes me appreciate it even more.

2024-07-06 20:49:14 +0000 UTCI really love the last scene of 3x5 where they are sitting around a fire on the beach. It gets me choked up listening to Zuko speak on his internal struggle. He mentions not knowing the difference between right or wrong anymore, and I think that perfectly encapsulates who he is as a character. So many factors pushing him towards the wrong path, and really only having Iroh as a beacon of hope. It's heartbreaking to me because he had to experience so much emotional pain and has been manipulated by people his whole life, to the point where he can't grasp his identity.

Which is why he had to write the other message in a way that was secret and revealed through fire bending. He knows zuko has a short temper and would either fire bend or throw it. Just my thoughts on it, loved the reaction! Thanks for sharing!

Azula trying to fit in with normal people is comedy gold, but also sad to see that she has zero social skills since she has basically been molded into this cold, calculating person that knows only how to use people because of her father (yes, he was abusive to both her and Zuko, just in wildly different ways. This will become much more apparent later). She can’t act her age even around people her actual age, and even when she wants to.

It also makes you wonder why Monk Gyatso never told Aang he knew him in a past life. It’s these little details that make this show truly remarkable!!! 🥹

It doesn't officially make a 3-parter with them and is kinda fillery but has some important moments that have a lot to do with that 2-parter. It really makes no sense on its own with 7 and 8 and they'll have forgotten about it by the next session, so my suggestion was to do those two alone next and then do one more after that, 9-12, if possible. That way you can also do 13-15 and fit that other 2-parter there when it comes.

2024-07-06 18:18:48 +0000 UTCeps 5 and 6 are some of the best in this arc for me. azula is in my top5 favorite characters so i'm glad ya'll finally enjoyed her on the beach episode lmao. she inherited all this malice and was raised as literally a war machine by her father, is supposed to be sad seeing her having no social skills because of that, but since it's a kids show they portrayed that in a comedic way, which to me is lowkey genius. now, in the beginning i was so against mai and zuko cause it felt soooo random to me lol, but they really grew on me😭 mai is patient, laid back and has somewhat a firm nature, while zuko is this impatient and passionate kid who goes back and forth with his temper, i feel like they really need each other in their lives cause one lacks what the other has. the detail of iroh having the crown prince's royal artifact because he was supposed to be the fire lord and him giving it to zuko because it's meant to be passed down to your son... oh my fking god no one fathers like HE fathers

No person is born evil, it is critical to take a look at the parents and the environment they were raised in. Azula was ruined by her environment and her dad. But I can't ask you to do 5 eps in one set, so I would recommend you just do 7 and 8 alone and maybe balance by doing 4 next? Up to you but 9 really shouldn't go with 7 and 8 alone 😅
