Nick is right, that scene isn’t in this episode. There is no mention of badgermoles in their conversation, and no flashback to toddler Toph. Toph mentions that she “sees” with vibrations via earthbending—which is why she’s so good.

I guess ya'll missed it in her explaining it, but she was taught by the badger-moles how to earthbend, and like we learned earlier in the season, they are the original earthbenders. Being taught by the original bender of an element, you'll turn out much more skilled than the average person. That and what you guys said about having more time to train etc.
