By "nurse" (re: Ah Duo's mum) they meant "wet nurse" : both Ah Duo and the Emperor were breastfed by her mum. The "just a nurse" probably implied Ah Duo's family didn't have as much political power/influence as a typical concubine family (of course that's just my understanding so take that with a grain of salt 😅) Love how Maomao's dedication to "it's just conjecture" reflects how much she respects and really ingrained Luomen's teachings, and that this personal rule he abides by is likely a result of his time in the rear palace 😳

2024-05-13 13:36:30 +0000 UTCTo work at the rear palace all males have to be relatives of the emperor or eunuchs, so Dr Luomen must have been a eunuch as soon as he walked into the rear palace. So no physical hanky panky between the doctor and any of the concubines at the rear palace.
