Have you guys decided what comes next after Re:Zero? Me personally would like you guys to try JOJO series, very creative and one of the most famous show by the way. Anyway I am just so eager to hear Ange's cover for JOJO's OPs! LETS GO!

2024-05-15 07:32:44 +0000 UTCIt usually boils down to taste, but sometimes it's more nuanced than that. Me personally I don't mind the delay in receiving answers, I like the mystery. I like Re Zero's world and characters. I also appreciate shows that are not straight up shonen. One of my favorites of all time is Serial Experiments Lain. But the biggest thing that makes me kinda ehh with Re Zero is the MC. He's just not likeable. Of course he's a good guy at his core, but his cringeyness and MC complex makes it hard to like him. For example, when he's trying to cheer up another character who's having an emotional crisis, he'd say all kinds of words to them and strike out his ass-out-finger-pointing-in-the-sky pose and smile. It feels like invalidating the character's emotional crisis. A good way of depicting how to respect human emotions is shown in Mushoku Tensei S2 episode 17 where the MC goes to his sister's room not knowing what to do or say to help her, and he doesn't make all kinds of noises, poses, or say so many words. He just lets her know that he's there for her and acknowledges to her that he doesn't know her very well and that communicates why he has no idea what to do to help her, and he says he's sorry. That presence alone helps her warm up to him. That's why you see so many reactors being emotional during that scene whereas I don't really recall reactors being emotional with all the scenes of Subaru talking-no-jutsu his way out of cheering up another character.

2024-05-12 11:13:49 +0000 UTCI think at the end of the day this is just another anime that's outside of your guys' wheelhouse when I consider the types of anime you guys seem to enjoy a lot (Demon Slayer, Haikyuu, Your Lie in April, etc.). The delay in receiving answers and the fact that you guys react to so many things seems to hinder your attachment to the stories/characters of shows like this (Steins; Gate was similar, I think). On that note: Any word on when we'll be seeing the "My Hero Academia" reactions? There aren't many deep mysteries in that one and there's a lot more instant gratification. Typical Shounen stuff. Or perhaps consider "Parasyte: The Maxim?" It's another classic anime that is definitely in your guys' wheelhouse.

2024-05-12 09:19:30 +0000 UTCHmm. I think Subaru's a great character and perhaps even too real of a character (in season 1, at least) for many anime enjoyers to bear. I will say that some of the extended dialogue sequences can be "overwritten" in the sense that characters are forced to reiterate their point multiple times but when I think about it more deeply... isn't that kind of real too? That's not an excuse, mind you. Writing doesn't have to be realistic to be entertaining nor should it be.

2024-05-11 23:56:42 +0000 UTCRegarding your questions about Betty's powers, she mentioned during the Ryuzu flashback arc that she uses Yin magic, and Roswaal chimes in that he uses Yang magic (or I have that reversed). That arc stated how Beatrice uses that Yin magic to do the spatial trick with the infinite doorways, so if Pandora's powers are similar, then she also does Yin magic. But I'm not quite sure if their powers are similar. I definitely agree with you guys on the Emilia trials being so great and are very rewarding. I dropped Re;zero in the past due to Subaru's cringeyness and dropped it again for a bit in S2 due to cringeyness, but the lore pay-offs help keep me watching for more. Apart from Subaru, the characters and story are very interesting and good. But he makes it very hard for me to watch, lol.

2024-05-11 22:06:49 +0000 UTCok. forgive the wall of text and mini rant, but i actually am trying to drive a point here on some of the tweaks i'd have done, so bare with me. Remember, reading is optional, you don't have to read this, people, but i'd appreciate your inputs. I will be one of the first people that says that I shipped Ram/Garf, or i guess i'd call them Gram (because garf loves that grandma name lol), and I was never on board with the "abrupt" ram/ross or Ramwal i guess. I always wished that they laid in the work a bit. And that part i blame the writing sometimes, like ange/carlie said, sometimes there's repetition and "cringe" dialogue. And it might suit the show more if that time spent on the cringe and "circular" arguments (like, sometimes you think "oh, that was a nice statement, that'll change their mind", but then they go back and stick to their stubborn argument until much later... which i guess is more of a realistic thing but less anime-eske). But anyway I always wished that they spent some of that time to put more context into those emotions BEFOREhand and not as "flashbacks". The flashbacks "i bet you didn't know this about X character" are great when you do them to characters like Geuse, and you feel more of the episode BECAUSE you know where geuse ended up... but it feels on the nose when you do it to love/emotions like Ram/Roswal. I wish they laid in the work more earlier for the SAME scenes. I can recall so many scenes where Ram would defend Roswal or state that she's supporting ros and not someone else etc... but i think they all sounded like an obedient maid/slave serving her oath/purpose, much like Frederika's oath to ros to send the people to the sanctuary... If ram used different words then, even the subtle nods of "Don't talk about Roswal like that, you think you know him, you think your understand him, but you only know the Roswal that he wants you to know. You don't know what the real roswal is like." And that would have been a scary "threat" at the time, from our perspective, like "yeah, dont threatten ros, he's still being nice to you" but then when this love confession comes out, you will realize on a second rewatch (or remembering) that "oh wait, she didnt mean it as a threat, she meant that the real roswal is loveable, caring but lost himself in the pursuit of his goals... i care about him, and you should go easy on him or at least help me save him" kind of hidden message. and maybe you throw in some of that imagery that betty saw , like "betty seeing younger roswal in her eyes instead of the current ros" or even throw in some unseen flashbacks that arent "grooming" or "stockholm". Like, Ros telling Ram the truth about her village earlier, and admitting that he wish he could do something to help but it would break his own oath and promise to follow the tome (which in turns gives Ram a goal: if ros can't break his oath to follow the tome, then the only way to get ros saved is to destroy that tome so he is off the hook and CANT follow it). But imagine if we had a bit more scenes where Ros and Ram interacted, where he'd tell Rem/Ram to do something, but Rem's blurred out because they dont remember her, and Ram's just "remembering" that she had to do the work on her own and complaining and Ros's just in his thoughts, daydreaming and being ... melancholic (no pun intended lol), and Ram just looks at him. Maybe she finds him sititng in his offfice chair, fallen sleep in a pile of books and drained, and she covers him with a blanket and looks at him and mumbles "you always do too much, for something that doesn't deserve you... why can't you be yourself, why can't you be honest with yourself... (sigh) ... maybe we're more alike than either of us can admit...". And then walk away, and then slowly see Ram's "hate" turn into "appreciation". YES it would still have a hint of stockholm syndrome unless the show specificaly showed that he "Saved them as per the tome's orders" and freely let them "leave" from the beginning after the village... but the girls realized that they had no purpose, so THEY offered to stay and to WORK and earn their purpose vs us believing that they were forced to stay and "groomed" like prisoners. I think those little tidbits might have laid the ground work for this, we'd always have asked ourselves "Ram's closer to Ross than how Rem is...even though they both have the same job in the mansion, and Rem's even better at it, even if no one remembers... so is Ram just trying super hard because she's jealous of Rem's performance? wait while that was true, in this timeline she doesnt remember rem, so does that mean that Ram was trying extra hard... for another reason too?" And then when she confesses her love to Ros, we would have a scene similar to Rem/Subaru instead, where Ram's confessing that she loves ros, ros denying it and saying that he's never done anything to be loved by her, and instead of focusing on the village stufff, focus more on how much Ros LOATHES HIMSELF, and thinks that the only person who loved him was Echidna... Let that realization that he's been blindly following a book for a long time hit hard, and that he's not even seeing how much Ram has cared for him and willingly been invested in him... And then when ram shows him the book, he's hit with the realization that if he doesnt have the book to follow then he doesnt know who he is and how to get to his goals and find echidna... and that act of "betrayal" lets him snap with that fireball.. and only when Ram's on the ground and the book is gone, and with no purpose for his life "nothing matters anymore" , he finds himself trying to save Ram, he doesnt know why, he's freezing, he could just give up, and doesn't know why (like mikasa in season 1 when she thought she was gonna die to a titan in AoT but kept fighting ffor no reason)... And then when emilia shows up, SHE tells him what Ram told her when she was "kneeling", when Ros thought that she was betraying him (remember Ros said he only saw her kneeling to Emilia, he didnt hear her speech...)... This could also be used as a double-purpose, narratively, by the writers: use this ordeal to show how much Emilia has grown after the trial too.. Because Emilia would have normally given up too, but instead she puts her foot down and confronts Roswall: Emilia would tell Ross what Ram's only wish was, and that he needs to snap out of it, because "nothing matters" is not a true statement as long as others believe in you and make YOU matter... and ram believes in Ros, so even if he doesnt believe in himself, much like emilia didnt believe in herself without subaru, THEY (subaru/rem/ram) are the reminders that they matter, and to push hard and never give up, until Ross (like emilia) finds their new purpose and mission to fight for... And since emilia beat the trial and faced her fears, and Ros should do the same now that the tome is burnt. And maybe that's why he's subconsciously still trying to save Ram and not just letting them both die... Because subconsciously, he didn't want to be someone that never mattered, forgotten by the likes of echidna who's long gone, and while his goals can still be made with his own will, because someone like Ram refuses to let him die, and so Roswal is healing her subconsciously because he refuses to let HER die for his ..wait for it... GREED. *baddum tss* *drops mic* SEE ? THIS little tiny change would have made me on board with Ramwal relationship a bit more, because it was on pure independence, and less authority/stockholm... but that's the issue with some japanese harem animes, sometimes they're extremely real and sometimes they take shortcuts to get to the final "emotion/result/outcome" without laying the groundwork. If anytihng, Garf admiring Ram's strength while recognizing that she's beautiful, and STILL acting against her when he believe she's wrong, only for them to find compromise... See that's more like a healthier relationship in THIS current state of this Rem-less world... if my wall of text above wasn't added in. But.. in the spirit of Re:Zero, i guess some things dont come "naturally" in their current loops..otherwise Subaru wouldnt be reliving his days lol... So (raises wine glass), here's to a future where this relationship is expanded on a bit more, and given a proper growth/time to heal and evolve in a rational manner."

They are essentially short stories written by the author about what would have happened if Subaru made different decisions. For example, the Greed IF story is about what would have happened if Subaru accepted Echidna's contract. Another popular one is the Sloth IF story where Subaru runs away with Ram instead of saving Emilia from Betelgeuse. There are a number of YouTube videos that summarize them, but if personally recommend reacting to Ecidnut's videos on the IF stories. Regardless on if you choose to react to these or not, thank you for the great reactions to S1 and S2 and I'm excited to see you guys to watch S3!

I nailed out the two seasons in like 3 days when I was sick. The important parts to note are Betty being Subarus contracted spirit. Just like Puck was to Emilia. The other thing to even help further explain rams confession from 23. That thing Roswaal did to Ram was indeed helping give her mana. But in season 1 we see him doing this to Ram as well at night. Ram cannot function properly or take in mana without her horn so Roswaal has to give part of his mana to her every night. So every night they would sit in his office and he would give her mana and talk with her. Now he’s a total dick and he was part of the reason the demons died out but it’s just further pushing to not knowing their relationship because it isn’t fleshed out in the show. I don’t really care for it tbh but that’s just to give more detail
