Tuna (and a lot of other fish) breathe via a mechanism called "Ram ventilation", i.e. they have to keep swimming to force water through their body to supply them with fresh oxygen. If they stop swimming, they literally die from asphyxiation.

V D

Impatiently waiting for the next episodes. Especially 14 ๐Ÿ˜‰

Vhagar

exactly, after all coach ukai was also member of karasuno team back in the days so crow mentality is there :D

Cayseron

Agree!!! This is also what Coach Nekomata meant when he said the crows are omnivores and they'll grab anything they can eat. They'll take advantage of those stronger than them to survive. They saw the synchronized attack, they made their own version. Noya saw Seijoh's libero setting, he did the same. Tanaka saw Bokuto's cut shot, now he's practicing the moves. Asahi is copying Ushijima who looked like he was floating on air before he spiked the ball. Though I think the number 1 thief is Kageyama, lol! He's been stealing other players' moves since middle school that's why Oikawa's furious. He inadvertently became Kageyama's teacher because Kageyama learned a lot just by watching him. And he's not just taking notes from setters like Oikawa and Kenma. He also took notes from Hoshiumi and Motoya. He saw Hoshiumi's jump and the next thing we saw is he's teaching it to Hinata. And he somewhat forced Noya to be more conscientious of their attackers' position like Motoya. Now, whenever the opponents do something amazing and someone from Karasuno is impressed, it's like wrong move on the opponents' part. Karasuno will take that move and make it their own, lol! PS.. Ange mentioned how Coach Ukai is letting the players govern themselves. I haven't seen how Grandpa Ukai coach the team but we know he mentioned in earlier seasons how Coach Irihata lets Seijoh, and more specifically Oikawa, think of the plays themselves. Coach Nekomata does the same too. So I guess he's not so different from the rest of the crows and learning from good coaches.

Jen Li

Not to rush you but hopefully you'll be in time for the Feb. 16 OVA release, which picks up right after the end of season 4๐Ÿฅน

ๅ— ๆฑŸ

It's the production companies....:( They've seen how lucrative anime movies have been these past few years. I also wish we're getting at least another season.

angelalala

I love this season, canโ€™t wait for the next episodes ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป

Sketchy Panda

when is poor Carlie gonna get an upgrade with the headphones?

DonMontoya

I think the animation of season 4 gets a bad rep. They changed the look to be closer to the manga. The characters are more often off-model, but the animation itself always feels zippy and dynamic to me.

Sharles Davis Kendy

we can still not let carlie know that is coming. let the man be surprised on his own

bebe

this is random but i've seen that you guys react to kdramas as well, it's been a minute since ya'll checked one out so i wanted to recommend "moving" for your next watch! there's very few kdramas that i enjoy and this is one of them, it's probably even one of my favorite series form last year๐Ÿ˜ญ insanely good, and for you guys who enjoy theorizing, romance and good fighting sequences, this would be a good one haha

beannie

my thoughts on Kageyama: giving and receiving feedback is the most important skill in a high-level competitive team. but feedback is only good when it's constructive. so telling Noya that he's in the way of the attackers, or telling Tsukki to jump higher = good. saying something like "can you please score more?" is not good because it's not like they can just do that lol. so I'm a bit torn on the whole resolution. I don't like that everyone is calling each other out for every misplay. it can lower the confidence of your teammates and I don't think it's actually helping, because I believe everyone is already trying their best.

Martina

i think in ep 9 daichi should be the mvp.

beba

Tuna needs to swim non stop otherwise they would die. The animation had a lot of people fuming or laughing but I adctually did not notice it at all until someone mentioned it. Season 4 is my most watched season aside from their match with Seijoh in S2. I think so far this season is my most favorite part of Hypekyuu!!

Lapisstories

BOKUTO!!! You guys were so funny these last few episodes. Especially Carlie. The way you went back on forth between refusing to analyze Kageyama and then going down a list of potential issues he might be going through rapid-fire had me in stitches.

Leah

If Hinata wasn't there, Kageyama would spiral out of control after realizing he was starting to act as he did back in Middle School. We all saw how that went for his team then. The only reason it was resolved is because Hinata knows how to communicate with people, and he says what's on his mind in a straight forward way. Kageyama's lack of communication skills would have literally killed the team. This isn't even the 1st time Hinata has done this for the team. Back during the Tokyo training arc in season 2, Hinata saying "I can't stay like this" is what made the rest of the team move forward. This team would be screwed without Hinata.

Mten10th

Agree to disagree ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Carlie & Ange

this is not spoil and not even in the manga hinata's sister grow up to 180cm and become the future ace in the niiyama( which is tanaka's female friend's school)

MATTHEW TAI

i guess

Cayseron

Oh gods I'm so late to the game!! But this means I get to binge all 9 reactions in one sitting haha!

Meg

Def not on the national level means pretty much screwed lol since thatโ€™s their goal anyways

Sparky

I mean, the artstyle matches the manga better, but the animation can be wonky as hell. I think we'll see that artstyle + great animation combined in the movie which will make people stop complaining for a bit lol

Yuxune

Go! Go! Let's go! Let's go, Dateko!

sneakymickey

The story this season is ELITE... but unfortunately the art and animation get worse in the second half... I would give an arm, a leg, and my firstborn child for them to re-do this season with the art and animation from season 3. This arc is so unbelievably good and has so many absurdly strong moments that just don't land quite the way they should because the characters look so derpy and the animation is so choppy and rushed.

Josh Knoebel

to be fair most of things you mentioned are not really acolades and contribution (although payoff makes it look like it) its just hinata being hinata. yes he noticing things shows growth but only thing he did in that match that was worth MVP was figuring out he should get lost in the crowd on his own. other stuff although shows merit is not really MVP material but rather hinata being his usual self. he always complained and called out kageyama throughout all 4 season and they always pick fight with each other. that did not change, dynamic between kageyama and others changed so they are seeing hinata's actions in different light although i am not completely against hinata being MVP there are others who did more MVP worthy things imo in that episode but thats just my opinion. i do love your summary of hinata's actions, just wanted to point out they are not as valuable as it seem but rather portrayed as such thanks to other elements involved

Cayseron

they would definitely have different dynamic but not nessecarily screwed. i do agree that they wold not be on national level perhaps

Cayseron

libero are not allowed to spike. thats a rule. you are mistaking "spike" for "attack". spike is attack, not every attack is spike (fingers and toe analogy situation). yes libero is allowed to pass the ball over the net which is technically an attack since ball crosses the net and is now in opponents court. spike on the other hand (pun not intended) is "spiking" the ball over your head. I am not 100% sure but i think only way libero is allowed to "attack" is by underhanded attack (the one nishinoya is good at) not over headed (although i might be wrong about that) bottom line is, training the "spike" itself is weird to me. its like training kicking in proffesional box where kicking is not allowed because your sparring partner is kick boxer. just cause your partner is allowed to do something does not mean you should practice it when that is not in your tool shed

Cayseron

So even though it doesn't happen often (and I don't think it happens at all in Haikyuu) anyone including the libero can 'spike' the ball back over the net. The difference is that for the libero to do so he would have to be under the plane of the net. Meaning Noya could hit the ball over the net if he needed to in an emergency with one hand just like a spike as long as he makes contact with the ball while shorter than the height of the net. So even though he isn't ever shown doing that he technically legally could do that. Hitting the ball this way is usually referred to as a "down ball" and the main benefit of hitting the ball back this way is that you'd be giving the opponents a harder ball to receive instead of giving them a chance/free ball by sending it back with a two hand push or bumping it over

Carlos Cantu

I was looking forward for this! The Tanaka arc begins, Ange is going to loose it so hard they are going to have to ask NASA to retrieve their table from the moon.

Leonardo Postacchini

This episode is so insane, it had so many character payoffs it was basically the whole episode, and adored your reactions and appreciation of it! honestly one of my top episodes of the series so far!

Kolton Nay

If the movie isnโ€™t already available to us, we will likely watch the trailer first ๐Ÿ™‚

Carlie & Ange

She is awesome and a cool person. But reactions from you two hit different! ^_^

Smash Bran'Discootch

Sheโ€™s fantastic! Weโ€™ve seen some of her reactions prior to Season 4

Carlie & Ange

Come on! Hinata was clearly the MVP, not only for crowning Kags, but he orchestrated everything, from telling Kageyama Tsukki could hit higher, defusing the tension when Kageyama was about to apologize and showing him that is ok to express himself, also being the only one to call out Kageyama mistakes. Hinata was an absolute star.

Leonardo Postacchini

It's funny I did not notice the animation change the first time I watched this season. When I got into the show it was on the third season, so of course I went and binged the manga, and surprisingly the art in this season matches the manga better so I just didn't notice at all, I went right from the manga to this lol

DandyZombie

For real! so many reactors totally miss it!

DandyZombie

Hinata crowning Kageyama, always gets me a little emotional. The music, the way it was animated, the whole full circle moment, it's just so good! Pretty much the only person Kageyama has always been himself with was Hinata. He never had to hold back with him. So Hinata crowning him, giving the whole king thing a new meaning, must have meant quite a lot. In ep 7 Hinata finds it weird that Kageyama is keeping so quiet when usually he always has an issue with his tone or saying one too many things. He didn't seem to realize that he was the only one being treated that way๐Ÿ˜† So to Hinata there really won't be any difference in how Kageyama treats him, even after owning the king title๐Ÿคฃ I agree with Asahi being mvp in ep 8 (although Hinata was a close second). I absolutely love that whole last rally. Asahi not being scared, facing the iron wall head on and scoring that last point was amazing. And the music just brought it to a whole new level. And you're right about what he was doing, he even mentioned it briefly to Kageyama(right before he kinda exploded) that he was trying something out with his timing for spiking. Loved the reaction! I'm so excited for the matches to begin!

Momo

I'm so glad Carlie put the cat down before episode 8, I had visions of Ange yelling hysterically at the episode and the cat just claws Carlie up. ๐Ÿ˜…

Brian Williams

Absolutely do this! The best 4 episodes to watch together are 13-16

Conni Coros

WE'RE FINALLY HERE!!! I can't wait for my favorite episode next week.

Danny

Apologies if you've mentioned this before, but after catching up to the anime, will you be watching the movie trailer?

Bee

i get what peppering is. i was goalkeeper in both soccer and handball and i still participated in basic warm up exercise. what i think is important to point out is that as goalkeeper in soccer you are allowed to use both hands and legs so doing basic warm up that involves other soccer players that are limited to using legs only and are forbidden from using hands during play makes sense to me. same in handball, while players are limited to only using hand and touching ball with leg is forbidden, the goalkeeper is allowed to use both so participating in peppering makes perfect sense. but in volleyball libero is a role that is handicaped in regard that they are the ones that are not allowed to use certain methods. to compare libero doing peppering would be same as having football players participating in goalkeeping exercises using hands. i dont think that is common nor have i ever seen a striker like messi or ronaldo do hand dives to grab a ball during exercise the way goalkeeper do it so that is why i am weirded out to see libero exercise something they are forbidden to do in game. also they were not even warming up for a match, that was just a practice so time was not of the essence or anything like that to say his warm up partner had noone else to warm up with so libero was taking one for the team. it is just counterintuitive, like giving magic caster stats into strength that he will never get to use

Cayseron

Like Carlos said pepper is a pretty common exercise, where you kinda warm up underhand, overhand and spiking. Although spiking for Noya seems like a waste of time, it's more important for his training partner to warm up at receiving. It would be pretty lame, if he just would keep "passing" during pepper, cause there is no really fast adjustment needed for the other guy.

Oli Champloo

Agreed, as someone who rarely reads manga and got pulled into Haikyuu after watching the series, I'm really worried about how they're going to handle it all, because my FAVORITE part is the very end so I really want ALL of it.

Cactuar Nick

A lot of people complain about the animation in Season 4 because it's "worse" but really it looks a lot more like the manga art and I like the change, even though it mostly came because of COVID or a strike or something. But the animation style matches the manga a lot more so I appreciate it, even though it feels "less" than before.

Cactuar Nick

but why noya? it is literally illegal for him to hit a ball in such way, why would he want to drill that in his skillset

Cayseron

100% agree with this

Virgil Hawkins

Yeah its just a normal part of "peppering" which is what you call it when players are warming up by hitting to each other

Carlos Cantu

Carlie, sorry I gotta call you out and say that "quicklier" definitely is not a word, not like the 100% real and legit "fasterly".

Jake Thompson

I hope they pull an Attack on Titan and add another Final Final movie lol... Or a Final season that covers the last arc ๐Ÿฅบ

Yuxune

One thing about 4x7 that took me a couple of rewatches to notice, is that the play where Kageyama tells Nishinoya to move is a mirror of a play that happened when he was at the training camp. Except in that play the Libero moved out of the lane of the back attacker without being told.

Steven

4x9 11:30 hold on, i never noticed this before but did nishinoya just "SPIKE"? XD

Cayseron

Practice matches typically don't have a specific number of sets. Depends on the team and coaches or whatever. I think the first practice match with Nekoma was like 8 or 9 sets.

Sharles Davis Kendy

My hope is that the two movies will end at Chapter 369. I would rather not see the last two arcs animated than see it butchered.

Sharles Davis Kendy

"Give me ten seasons of Haikyuu!" Honestly, I feel that. I would 100% watch just every new year of volleyball.

Sharles Davis Kendy

This team would be screwed without Hinata.

Mten10th

lot of people miss it first time they watch so they are confused about asahi's intention in 4x8. in season 3 ushiwaka pulls out a point where everyone looking from sides imagines that he stopped in the air. in that moment he stretch his back and pulls his legs backwards to elevates himself higher and stay longer in air in order to spike after blockers start falling back down. Asahi is trying to copy ushiwaka just like how many other karasuno players copied moves from other players we saw in the past. kageyama stole few tricks from kenma, tsukishima fell in love with read blocking after seeing how effective it is in their first match vs date tech and then improved it with kuro, hinata learned feint from bokuto, yamaguchi learned jump floater from shimada, nishinoya learned back row jump set from watari (seijoh libero), karasuno learned the synchro attack from shinzen etc... It is probably because tanaka is his favorite so he pays extra attention to him that Ange caught on the moment when tanaka saw bokuto's sharp cross shot and decided he wants to learn that and that is what he was practicing in this practice match with date tech the most. Just like tanaka with bokuto, asahi also took inspiration from someone who he has lot in common which is ushiwaka. Asahi has the height and build and power in his spikes to pull off things ushiwaka did (that many other players could just hope for) so he is trying his best to copy the approach and jump that ushiwaka does in order to gain advantage over blockers

Cayseron

So happy it's finally Wednesday again <3 Love to see your reactions so much!

Cathy

THATS WHY WE NEED CARLIE AND ANGE TO DO A MANGA READING SESSION PLEASE

bebe

the girl that tanaka knows is the female version of ushijima, i believe she is the best female wingspiker in miyagi perfecture

bebe

I am sorry but I have to vent my frustration!! Season 4 ended on chapter 293 in the manga and the manga has 402 chapters...meaning we are only getting 2 movies covering 109 chapters instead of a whole season ๐Ÿ’€ like how did we go from 1 match being covered in 1 whole season to getting only 2 movies ๐Ÿ˜ญ ๐Ÿ˜ญ ๐Ÿ˜ญ we were robbed ๐Ÿ˜ญ ๐Ÿ˜ญ those 2 movies better be 3 hours long each ๐Ÿ˜ก

Bibi

ANYWAY BUCKLE UP GUYS TOURNAMENT ARC IS COMING

bebe

oh boy its time for nats! these episodes can't come quicklier enough

wicecakes

Small recommendation/request for an optimal viewing experience based on your upload schedule. If you continue with 3 eps per week you'll end up finishing with ep 25 alone unless you include it as a 4th ep for that week and if you're gonna watch 4 eps in one week then I'd recommend it be eps 13-16 together. Just saiyan ๐Ÿ˜„

Carlos Cantu

And let the hypekyuu games begin ahhhhh

Regine

Carlie and ange this is a warning but after this episode this is were the hype starts so buckle up because this is going to be a crazy ride I am telling you guys this so that you don't pass out from too much hype lol ๐Ÿ˜‚

Maya Coleman

i enjoy watching your reactions because you understand what is going on with the characters so well.

bebe

I think you guys missed it but when tanaka and that girl were talking they said that they haven't seen each other since fourth grade which means that it has been since fourth grade since they have seen each other

Maya Coleman

I love to see at the beginning u wonder volleyball manga really itโ€™s things and now Carlie cry a lot on this ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‡ and how much u can laf and be full of joy watching this show both of u ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ now let beginning the real episode of the season ๐Ÿ˜ˆ๐Ÿ˜ˆ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

Clรฉment Creton

Holy shite, you two understood Ep 7 on first watch!! You're basically among the top 0.5 percentile of reaction channels with that.

Nymph

Y'all's cat is really cute ๐Ÿ˜

Maya Coleman

Thank you for always magically posting these reactions on the days I seem to need them the most :D Y'all are honestly the best. Thank youโค๏ธ eta: Now Kags has a team that accepts him the way he is because either way, they have their own motivations. He was able to work through it because his team fully trusts him and his genius. That he can be a little shit sometimes is to them, something that just comes with the territory and they get to decide how to deal with it. They give him the space and the security to grow. It's actually so beautiful :)

Belinda

ya'll just made my day with this๐Ÿ•บ lets goooo

BROOO! You and Sarah Pavan(Olympic beach volleyball player)posted your latest Haikyuu reactions within minutes of eachother. Sarah is fantastic and her perspective as a professional player is awesome to have. And yet? I'm watching yours first ^_^
